Vodka for a Bad Beat

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Iulian Iacob
Iulian Iacob

Tournaments are run slightly different in Romania and it came as no surprise that the latest promotion for all players in the event was unusual. The next bad beat hand, as determined by the dealer, was to award a special package with jug of vodka to pour some alcohol on the misery. Just one minute later on table three, the same table that popped the headphones cherry on Day 1b, Ivan Stankov was all in for 70,500 and Iulian Iacob called.

Ivan Stankov: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Iulian Iacob: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}

The board came {4-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and Stankov rivered a queen. Floor staff was promptly notified and Iacob downed his shot of vodka a mere minute later. Both players started as big stacks and have since dropped down to fewer than the average.

"Good Luck Guys"

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Down to around 55,000, Ozgur Arda moved all in with the {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} and table neighbor Cristian Dinu Cirja looked him up with {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. The board came {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Arda left the table with the words "good luck guys."

Shahar Rivers an Ace in Three-Way All In

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Ran Shahar
Ran Shahar

Cornel Petrescu shoved for around 45,000 and Ran Shahar reshoved from two seats over for 105,000. Catalin Pop snap-called in the small blind and put two players at risk.

Cornel Petrescu: {A-Spades}{9-Spades}
Ran Shahar: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}
Catalin Pop: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

The board came {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{A-Diamonds} and Shahar jumped out in excitement, kissing table neighbor Solomon Stan. "Ace on the river, that's karma" he added.

Down to 94 Players

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Several players were eliminated in quick succession while the short stack fight of Manfred Sierke continued. Sierke shoved for 34,000 with the {7-Spades}{6-Spades} and Ferenc Csaba Pal called in the cutoff with {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}. The board came {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Sierke paired his six to double.

Vijeu Busts to Pal

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Cristinel Dumitru and Alexandru Vijeu won't be taking home a portion of the prize pool as both ran out of chips. Vijeu was all in with the {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} against Levente Pal's {J-Spades}{10-Clubs} and the board of {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} improved Pal to a pair of tens.

Shub; Jarvisalo and Popa Eliminated

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Dean Shub
Dean Shub

Vlad Liviu Popa was all in with the {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} and Daniel Kristy looked him up with the dominating stack and {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. The board came {Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and Kristy's set dealt the final blow to Popa.

On the table of Natalie Hof, 888poker online qualifier Toni Jarvisalo and Dean Shub were missing while Ferenc Csaba Pal and Alexandru Papadopoulos had built their stacks.

According to Hof, Shub took a nasty beat when flopping a set of eights and calling the min-raise of Pal before the duo got it in on the {A-}{K-}{8-}{7-} turn. Pal had {K-}{8-} for two pair and rivered a king for the better full house.

Jarvisalo had a flip with {A-}{K-} against the pocket tens of [Removed:418] and ended up second best.

Death By Quads

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Boaz Kolenbrener
Boaz Kolenbrener

It was a big flip over on table three that decided over the fate of Boaz Kolenbrener and he was barely covered by Andrei Alecu when the cards were turned over.

Boaz Kolenbrener: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Andrei Alecu: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

The {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop was kind of an overkill as Alecu made quads and left Kolenbrener drawing dead, while the dealer fanned the meaningless {6-Spades} turn and {9-Clubs} river.

Updated Counts

Level 12 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Among the next casualties of the day was also 888poker online qualifier Sabolc Sigeti, while Tudor Purice has edged past more than half a million in chips.
