Event #3 of the 2021 bestbet Jacksonville Spring Series saw 194 entries, all of whom had a $100 bounty placed atop their heads from their $360 buy-in. The lion's share of the $58,200 prize pool was decided by heads-up chop between Alex Ortiz and Lawrence Brown, with Ortiz being declared the winner and earning $13,330 and Brown taking $8,808 for his performance.

All eight final table contestants earned at least $1,690 with the top 12 places earning at least a four-figure score. Cheryl Gruden (3rd - $6,560) was the only other player besides Ortiz and Brown to take home more than $5,000.

Mroczkowski Done and Dusted

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Eddy Mroczkowski
Eddy Mroczkowski

Eddy Mroczkowski was on the button and open-jammed for his last 9,000 upon action folding to him. The small blind gave him action.

Eddy Mroczkowski: {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Small Blind: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

An ace-high flop {2-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{10-Spades} wound up tripling Mroczkowski's outs, but no further diamonds came as the turn {7-Spades} and river {6-Spades} completed the runout to result in his elimination from the tournament.

Palma Close to Six Figures

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Nick Palma
Nick Palma

Nick Palma was just spotted with a pile of chips in front of him nearing 100,000 and recounted a recent trial in which he took a player's stack. Palma opened to 1,500 under the gun and was called by the player on his left. Action then folded around to Jack Sumner in the big blind, who also defended.

The flop fell {9-}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and Sumner checked. Palma made a continuation-bet of 2,500 and received a call from the player on his left. Sumner folded, taking action heads up to the turn {q-} and Palma checked to his opponent. The player bet 3,000, which Palma called.

The river came {a-} and Palma checked again. His opponent put in another 5,000 and Palma check-jammed on him for around 20,000 more effective. His opponent called.

Nick Palma: {q-}{q-}

Mroczkowski "Saves Himself"

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Eddy Mroczkowski in Day 1a action
Eddy Mroczkowski in Day 1a action

Eddy Mroczkowski saw action fold to him on the button and opened to 1,500. The small blind called, as did Thad McNulty in the big blind and all three players checked through a flop of {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

Action checked to Mroczkowski on the turn {3-Hearts} and he put out a bet of 2,000. The small blind folded and then McNulty check-raised to 5,200. Mroczkowski called.

The river fell {a-Hearts} and McNulty tossed in a 5K-chip. Mroczkowski went into the tank for roughly a minute and then found a fold.

"You saved yourself," said McNulty, showing {k-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for a flopped kings up. Mroczkowski smiled and acknowledged, with McNulty further adding that he saw Mroczkowski thinking about a jam and was going to call if he shoved.

Horne Next To Get a Knockout

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Action folded around to the small blind, who pushed his remaining 3,700 into the middle and quickly received a call from Justin Horne in the big blind.

All-In Player: {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Justin Horne: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The all-in player found a little help on the flop {7-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{4-Hearts} but Horne had too many outs to miss, connecting on the turn {k-Clubs}. The river {2-Diamonds} changed nothing and the pot was sent Horne's way.

Kings Give Hasan a Double

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Lawrence Brown opened to 2,200 in early position and Ali Hasan three-bet shoved for 7,600 on the button. Action made its way back to Brown and he called.

Ali Hasan: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}
Lawrence Brown: {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Brown hit top pair on the flop {5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} but the turn {3-Spades} and river {9-Clubs} failed to improve him any further and Hasan shipped the double with his kings.
