Mataix Sends Perez Deep Into the Tank

Jordi Mataix and Antonio Perez were heads-up on a board of 2J8Q when Perez, on the button, bet 50,000.

Mataix then raised to 110,000 from early position. Perez took off his glasses and buried his face in his hands as he tanked for several minutes.

He eventually folded and Mataix showed him QQ as he took in the pot.

Three-handed on a flop of 5310, Fernando Santa Maria bet 10,000 from the hijack and Jose Maria Montiel called on the button. David Ballestero tanked for a moment before folding his big blind.

The turn came the K and Santa Maria fired out another 25,000. Montiel quickly called to the J river, where both players checked.

Santa Maria showed K9 for a turned pair of kings, while Montiel flashed Q10 before mucking.

He checked over to Rodriguez, who this time checked back and took the pot with A8.

Francesc Parramon couldn't recover from losing the big pot to Diogo Ferreira and was eliminated a few hands later, bringing the field three spots from the money.

Rodriguez tanked for nearly a minute before he called. Mataix then turned over KQ and got up from his seat prepared to make his exit, but then found he was ahead as Rodriguez could only show KJ giving Mataix a double up.
