Mortensen Eliminated in Three-Way All-In

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Morten Mortensen was all in for 7,600 and Roland Chassing called in the cutoff. Andrei Stoenescu then jammed for 15,200 in the big blind and Chassing tossed in the additional chips.

Morten Mortensen: {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Andrei Stoenescu: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Roland Chassing: {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

The board came {k-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{4-Diamonds} and the kicker played in favor of Stonescu, ensuring his double up and the elimination of Mortensen.

Lykov Gambles and Wins

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Maxim Lykov jammed for 7,600 and Juan Pardo in the small blind seemed very interested but ended up folding. Michael Jimenez in the big blind checked his cards and called instantly with the slightly superior stack.

Maxim Lykov: {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Michael Jimenez: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{a-Hearts} board gave Lykov a runner-runner flush and he left Jimenez short.

Gieles Snipes Katzenberger

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

From the blinds, Viktor Katzenberger saw a flop of {q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs} against Luuk Gieles, who'd opened in middle position. The Hungarian then check-called a bet of 1,200 from Gieles.

The turn brought the {10-Hearts} and Katzenberger, first to act, shoved all in for 8,500. Gieles followed suit with a rapid call.

Viktor Katzenberger: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Luuk Gieles: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}

Gieles had caught the three-outer on the turn to put Katzenberger in a deep hole. The {5-Hearts} on the river would be the last card the Hungarian would see with his buy-in, and he has until the start of Day 2 if he opts to use his single re-entry.

Brandstrom Bluffs Off A Chunk

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Simon Brandstrom
Simon Brandstrom

EPT Barcelona Main Event champ Simon Brandstrom was active in a hand against Jun Obara with the board reading {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Brandstrom cooked up a river bet of 26,500 and his Japanese adversary slammed a bunch of chips in without hesitation.

Brandstrom rolled over {a-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a missed double gutter and Obara scooped it up with the {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Tsugunari Toma, just passing by to check on his countryman, ran over to Obara and the pair celebrated the healthy chip surge.

Sirzat Hissou had nursed a shorter stack and eventually got it in with a pair, turning over the {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. Unfortunately, he was dominated by Paul Hong and his {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}, and the board came {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{a-Spades}{k-Hearts} to provide no help.
