Vaughn Doubles on the Bubble

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Anthony Vaughn and David Jaing have spent much of the hand-for-hand section of the tournament waiting for the right spot. Both stacks were dwindling down, but finally Vaughn found a hand and a good spot to use it.

Jim Keating had {a-}{9-} in the small blind against the {a-}{q-} of Vaughn in the big. The two were all in.

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{k-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and Vaughn doubled up.

More Moneymaker, More Problems For Everyone Else

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker

Chris Moneymaker is approaching 500,000 chips, after he eliminated two players on the same hand.

The action started when Ed Blount raised to 7,000 and Moneymaker called in position. Ronald McDonald called from the big blind.

All three players checked the {5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop.

On the turn, they each did the exact opposite. In successive order, McDonald and Blount both shoved all in. Moneymaker snap called the two shoves.

McDonald was on a diamond draw with {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}. Blount had an over pair with {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. Moneymaker had a set of fives with {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and was about to knock out both players.

The river was the {6-Spades} and gave Moneymaker the double knockout.

Melkersen Chats Up Lackey

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

David Lackey opened with a raise to 6,500 and the action fell to Mike Melkersen in the small blind. Melkersen made it 16,000 and the action folded back to Lackey.

"You got my number," Lackey said while considering his options.

"For me to three bet you these cards need to say 'wild' on them," Melkersen said, gesturing toward his hole cards. "Hopefully you didn't read that book, 'verbal poker tells'."

Lackey folded and who knows whether the three bet was enough, or if the table talk helped earn Melkersen the fold.

Dabbaghle

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Habib Dabbagh
Habib Dabbagh

Habib Dabbagh continued his downswing right out of the tournament. He was looking at a {9-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop and went all in to the 20,000 pot for his remaining stack.

Mike Melkersen called and had a set of nines, {9-}{9-} against the flush draw of Dabbagh, {k-Spades}{4-Spades}.

The flush didn't come and Melkersen won the hand and eliminated Dabbagh.
