Bet Alert: Neuville Enters HPO Championship

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

At age 73 Pierre Neuville's one of the most dedicated and motivated poker players in the world, as he recently laid out a bet for all takers. Neuville offered to put up $50,000 betting on his own Global Poker Index ranking being within the Top 50 at any point between now and June 30th 2017.

As of right now Neuville ranks 94th on the GPI, even though he finished second in a WSOP event for $213,837 just two weeks ago. It will take Neuville a lot more results to get to the Top 50, and right now he's at in the HPO Championship event.

Mateos Celebrates Hollywood Style

Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

Adrian Mateos won the 2016 World Series of Poker $1,500 Summer Solstice event this afternoon. He bested a field of 1,840 entries and won a first-place prize of $409,171.

He came back from a sizable deficit in heads-up play to collect his second WSOP bracelet, adding to a trophy case that includes both the WSOP Europe Main Event and European Poker Tour Grand Final titles.

So what did the spicy 21-year-old Spanish phenom do to celebrate his latest victory? He hopped in a car, drove over to the M Resort on the other side of town, and late-registered the Hollywood Poker Open Season 4 Championship Event of course.

Mateos made the drive south and just turned up at the tables here moments ago, picking up his 25,000-chip stack and letting it rip.

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

Iowa's Jeff Fielder has joined the group at the top of the chip counts now after at least one massive hand and a dash of run good.

The big hand saw Fielder make kings full versus nines full and get heaps in on the river.

Karrim Eliminated Again

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

It was not a great day for Ahmed Karrim, and just now he's been knocked out again. Karrim informed us that he lost holding pocket jacks versus {A-Spades}{6-Spades}. The money went in on a {J-}{8-}{3-} flop with two spades, the turn brought the {4-Clubs} but the {Q-Spades} knocked the South-African player.
