Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Aaron Massey
Aaron Massey

A player checked the {j-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Clubs} board from the big blind, and two-time HPT champ Aaron Massey bet 12,000 from the hijack. The big blind went deep into tank for a few minutes before flicking a single chip into the pot to call.

Massey flipped over {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a rivered gutshot straight, and his opponent mucked.

Alexander Makes Aces-Full

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

John Alexander raised to 900 from the hijack, and Austin Schaal made the call in the big blind.

Both players checked the {3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{a-Clubs} flop, and Schaal led out for 1,600 on the {5-Hearts} turn. Alexander called.

Schaal checked the {4-Hearts} river to Alexander, who bet 3,000. Schaal thought for a few moments before flicking in a call, only to muck once Alexander revealed {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}.

"God, It Feels Like a Gift"

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Craig Casino
Craig Casino

Craig Casino opened to 900, and the button, small blind, and big blind all came along for a rainbow flop of {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

The blinds checked to Casino, who continued for 2,800. The button called, as did the small blind, and the big blind threw it away.

After the {8-Clubs} turn straightened out the board and added a flush draw, Casino took his time before tossing out 7,000. The button instantly folded, and the small blind called almost as quickly.

The {6-Hearts} river went check-check, and the small blind showed {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} for king-high. Casino turned over his winning {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} and said, "How'd you miss that? God, it feels like a gift," referring to his opponent's flopped gutshot that became an open-ender on the turn.

Warner Fills Up

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

A player raised to 1,200 from middle position, and Shawn Roberts called in the hijack, as did Cory Warner on the button.

Action checked to Roberts on the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop, and he bet 1,200. Only Warner called.

Both players checked the {2-Clubs} turn, and the {9-Spades} fell on the river. Roberts checked, and Warner bet 4,000. Roberts called, and Warner tabled {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for the nut full house. Roberts smirked and showed the {9-Hearts} from his hand before mucking.

Kiletto and Gallagher Both Fill Up

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

The table folded around to Lily Kiletto, who opened the action for 800. Only Jered Gallagher called in the small blind.

A somewhat coordinated flop came in the form of {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}. Kiletto continued for 1,500, and Gallagher called.

Gallagher check-called the {k-Clubs} turn, which paired the board, after Kiletto fired 3,000.

The {3-Clubs} river added another pair to the board, and Kiletto tossed out a 5k chip when checked to. Gallagher immediately called.

Kiletto showed {a-Hearts}{3-Spades} for a flopped bottom pair that rivered the full house, but Gallagher took the pot with {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, having flopped middle set and filling up on the turn.

Maurice Hawkins checked an {8-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades} board from the big blind, and Pratap Golla bet 3,600 from the hijack. Hawkins responded with a check-raise to 8,400, and Golla called.

The {k-Hearts} completed the board on the river, and Hawkins jammed for 13,000. Golla quickly folded.

Chip Counts From the Other Half

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante

Burns Catches Fire

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
James Burns
James Burns

Mike Rieck just came by the media desk, telling us that he had just been the victim of a cruel beat when his turned set of nines fell to a rivered set of aces by his opponent, after all the money went in on the turn.

We went to the table and saw that it was James Burns, who started the day off with an elimination, continuing his hot streak as he stacked up the last of Rieck's chips.

"A good turn for him, good river for me!" Burns said with a smile as he now commands a six-figure stack in the early stages of Day 1c play.

Flop Checks Through, Action Ensues

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Derek Schroeder
Derek Schroeder

Derek Schroeder opened to 1,500 from early position, and it folded around to the big blind, who considered his options for a moment before calling.

The {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop went check-check, and the big blind led for a single 1k chip on the {q-Spades} turn. Schroeder added two more orange chips to the mix with a raise to 3,000, and the big blind matched it in the blink of an eye.

When checked to on the {3-Spades} river, Schroeder fired again for 4,500, and the big blind called. Schroeder rolled over {a-Spades}{j-Spades} and stacked the pot.
