Mattila Eliminates Koplimaa

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Markku Koplimaa
Markku Koplimaa

Markku Koplimaa was the latest casualty in the Main Event. Jussi Mattila opened for 25,000 on the button. Koplimaa jammed from the small blind for 110,000 and Mattila called.

Koplimaa had a nice advantage before the board with {a-}{j-} and Mattila holding {a-}{7-}. However, a seven spiked the flop and nothing else came on the board to help Koplimaa and he was eliminated in 30th place for €2,740.

Varonen's Fours Counterfeited

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Ari Toivo Kalevi Varonen was eliminated in 31st place almost at the same time Zitting was eliminated.

Varonen jammed nearly eight big blinds with {4-}{4-} and was called by Herni Schalin with {a-}{q-}. The board ran out {7-}{6-}{7-}{6-}{9-} to counterfeit Varonen's two pair

Tuukka Meklin was also recently eliminated on the feature table in 32nd place.

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Kristian Matias Zitting was down to just 10 big blinds when he jammed from the hijack. Leo Tapani Pietila three-bet shoved for 336,000 from the button.

Jari Saviaho tanked for several minutes before Zitting called the clock. The tournament staff asked the dealer about the hand during which time Saviaho said he needed two minutes. The tournament staff told Saviaho to take his time and he folded a minute later.

Zitting turned over {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and was in a bit of trouble against Pietila's {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Zitting began to stand up after the {5-Spades}{q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} came on the flop and turned his back on the table after he was drawing dead once the {k-Hearts} came on the turn to give his opponent a full house. Zitting did wind up with a flush after the {6-Hearts} completed the board on the river but this was not enough to save him.

Heiska in the Lead, Kore First Eliminated in the Money

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Juho Heiska has won a few smaller pots and is now in the chip lead. Also, right after the bubble hand, Kevin Kore was eliminated in 34th place for €2,740.

Since Kore's elimination, most of the tables have been in small ball mode.

Lipp Bubbles on a Bad Beat

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jarko Lipp
Jarko Lipp

The bubble took exactly one hand. Peter Pihlstrom jammed the button for 102,000 and Jarko Lipp, who coincidentally had the same amount of chips, called.

Hands were played out on other tables and a crowd formed with everyone understanding this hand was likely to break the bubble one way or another.

It wasn't looking good for Pihlstrom after he turned over {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} and Lipp turned over {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}.

However, tides quickly changed for Pihlstrom after he nailed a set on the {5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop. The {2-Clubs} on the turn and the {7-Diamonds} on the river were unable to save Lipp and he was eliminated on the bubble.

Meanwhile, Pihlstrom and the other 33 remaining players are all guaranteed a payout of at least €2,740.

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Teun Hernar Mulder
Teun Hernar Mulder

Just before the break, a player opened to 20,000 and Teun Hernar Mulder flatted. Julian Adamson raised to 68,000 and the original raiser folded.

Mulder then jammed for 270,000 and Adamson called.

Mulder turned over {8-}{8-} and the {j-}{6-}{2-}{5-}{5-} board was unable to help him against the {q-}{q-} held by Adamson.

Adamson had the chip lead entering the break with 830,000. Just behind him at the break are Vladimir Bednar with 720,000 and Janar Kokk with 660,000.

Racinskas Folds Queens Preflop After a Long Tank

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

A player min-raised from under the gun. Jari Saviaho flatted from one seat over before Martynas Racinskas sitting next to him three-bet to 48,000.

The action folded back around to the original raiser who promptly folded. Saviaho tanked for a minute before he declared himself all-in.

Racinskas looked like he was in pain and asked for a count. The dealer counted and told him that his opponent had 448,000, which more than covered the about 350,000 that Racinskas had to start the hand.

One minute went by, then two, then three. The tank went on for a total of seven minutes. Racinskas finally asked if I fold and show will you do the same.

He then open-folded {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and we will never know if he would have won the race or not with Saviaho turning over {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}.
