Menendez's Three-Bet Does the Trick

Over at the feature table, action folded to an unknown player in the cutoff and he raised to 2,000. Leo Fernandez folded from the big blind, but LAPT Colombia winner Julian Menendez pushed back to the tune of 6,000. Perhaps it was Menendez's reputation as an LAPT champ, or maybe the cutoff was trying to steal; whatever the case, the cutoff folded and Menendez took down the pot uncontested.

Misstep For Perez

Luis Perez opened to 1,400 in middle position and was called by the player in the big blind, landing an {A-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop.

Both checked to see the {J-Diamonds} turn. A check from the big blind led to a bet of 2,100 from Perez. His opponent quickly pushed in the rest of his stack, 6,200, and Perez called immediately with {A-Hearts}{5-Clubs}.

With {A-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, the big blind had a huge lead in the hand and took down the pot when the {4-Hearts} hit the river.

Half the Field is Gone

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante

The tournament clock says there are 142 players remaining, which means exactly half the field has been eliminated. With three more levels to play after this one, we expect that number to be whittled down significantly by night's end.

An Unexciting Hand for Torres

It's pretty slow at the moment here on the tournament floor. Keep that in mind while you read the following hand, which is pretty boring and run of the mill. Team Online member Freddy Torres opened for 1,600 under the gun and found callers in the hijack and big blind.

All three players proceeded to check the {5-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, leading to the {5-Hearts} turn. It went check-check, and the hijack put out a bet of 2,000. The big blind made the call, while Torres got out of the way. See, we told you it wasn't exciting, but in case you're wondering how it played out, The big blind check-called all in for 5,100 on the {10-Hearts} turn holding {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}, which bested the hijack's {A-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Middle Pair Good For Panno

Ernesto Panno raised to 1,600 from the cutoff and was met with a call from the player in the big blind.

The flop came down {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and the big blind checked it to Panno who fired 2,200. After a few moments in the tank, the big blind flashed {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and surrendered the pot to Panno, who showed the {10-Clubs}.

Fernandez Mucks

Leo Fernandez
Leo Fernandez

After Julian Menendez opened for 900 under the gun, three players called including Leo Fernandez from the big blind. When the flop fell {2-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts}, the Team PokerStars Pro (Argentina) took the initiative and led out for 1,500, which only the cutoff called.

Both players then checked the {3-Spades} turn, as they did on the {4-Diamonds} river. The cutoff revealed {J-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for jack high, and it was good as Fernandez simply mucked.
