Gierse Folds the River

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Action folded to Marius Gierse in the small blind and he limped in. Big blind Michiel Brummelhuis checked his option.

Gierse bet 6,000 on {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and 17,000 on the {2-Clubs} turn. Brummelhuis called both streets and saw his neighbor check on the {J-Clubs} river. Brummelhuis shoved all in and Gierse released his cards into the muck.

Intermezzo

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Play has halted for a couple minutes as the announcement of the €1,000 Final Table players will get underway. The way they do that here in Holland Casino Amsterdam, is a little different than other tournaments. They stop play everywhere and ask attention for the finalists while the speaker introduces them.

Koren Check-Raises the River

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

From middle position, Artur Koren opened for 14,000 and his neighbor Michiel Brosky three-bet to 41,000. Action folded back to Koren and he called.

Both checked on {J-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and the {K-Spades} hit the turn. Koren check-called a bet of 32,000 before he checked again on the {7-Hearts} river. Brosky bet 76,000 and Koren didn't waste much time check-raising to 210,000.

Now that the levels are 90 minutes long, a break occurs after each and every level. Play resumes in 15 minutes.

Flush Versus Full House Results in 14 Big Blind Pot

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

From the hijack, Jan Bendik opened for 10,000. Small blind Anton Wigg and big blind Arne Coulier called. The blinds checked on {2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Bendik bet 20,000. Wigg called, Coulier folded.

The turn came the {9-Spades} and both players checked. Wigg checked again on the {3-Diamonds} river and Bendik said something about flushes and fullhouses we couldn't quite hear, before checking behind.

Wigg showed {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and Bendik open mucked his {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}. The table was in awe as Wigg started stacking.

Hans Bosman Eliminated

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Hans Bosman was seen walking to the payout desk. He told us he had three-bet his neighbor Hakim Zoufri for the second time today, this time with {Q-}{Q-}. Zoufri called and check-called a hefty bet on {8-}{7-}{4-}. The turn was another {7-} and the last couple of chips from Bosman went in as well. Zoufri turned out to have {10-}{7-} and no queen on the river resulted in a walk to the exit for Bosman.

"Lekker Dubbeltje" - Nice Little Double for Brummelhuis

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

"Lekker dubbeltje" Michiel Brummelhuis said, pointing to his stack of 240,000. He told us he opened {A-}{K-} under the gun and one player called before another player squeezed. Brummelhuis shoved and the player who had three-bet called with {A-}{Q-}. Brummelhuis had no trouble fading queens or other bad cards and scored a full double.

Mohammed El Mazouni Eliminated

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Mohammed El Mazouni was seen standing on the rail. He told us how things had gone downhill for him from the start.

He opened ace-queen twice and ace-king once, but didn't win any chips with it. A check fold here, a fold to a shove over his continuation bet there.

Not much later, the player under the gun shoved and El Mazouni called from the big blind with {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. His neighbor had {A-}{Q-} and saw that hand hold up.

After that hand, El Mazouni was down to just 70,000 and shoved from the small blind with {9-Spades}{6-Spades} after action had folded to him. The big blind called with {A-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and won. El Mazouni flopped a nine but the river gave his neighbor a flush and that was it.
