Some of the world’s best poker players will flock to Merit Royal Diamond for the Onyx High Roller Series, with more than $10 million in guarantees on the line across No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha events.
With the series expected to attract elite and fun player fields, Onyx has also outlined a clear set of tournament conditions ahead of time. One of those is a restriction on face coverings. When players have live cards during a hand, sunglasses, masks, scarves, and any intentional covering of the face will not be permitted.
It is one of several tournament rules confirmed ahead of a packed nine-day schedule that runs from August 7-16.

Paul Esau raised to around 2,500 from middle position and Konstantin Voronin called in the hijack, with the big blind also coming along.
All three players checked the 4♣7♣10♦ flop before the 6♥ hit the turn. When action checked to Esau, he bet 6,800, and only Voronin called.
The A♦ fell on the river and Esau checked. Voronin moved all in, putting Esau at risk for his last 26,000, and Esau made the call.
Voronin tabled A♣8♠ for a rivered pair of aces to win the pot and send Esau to the rail, as Esau revealed K♣K♥ for a pair of kings.

Jun Yang raised to 2,500 from the cutoff and was called by the button before Sinan Seremetli squeezed to 14,600 from the small blind. Only Yang made the call.
Both players checked the 4♦3♥4♥ flop before Seremetli fired a delayed continuation-bet of 15,000 on the 7♥ turn. That was enough to get Yang to fold, sending the pot to Seremetli.

Geoffrey Mooney raised to 2,500 from middle position and was three-bet to 8,000 by the player in the hijack. Mooney called when the action got back to him.
Mooney check-called a bet of 6,000 on the K♠2♦9♦ flop, then did the same on the J♦ turn, this time for 20,000.
Both players checked the 3♥ river, and Mooney tabled Q♥Q♦ for a pair of queens, which was enough to earn him the pot.

On a completed board of J♣4♥4♠2♦10♠, Mihai Niste fired out a bet of 50,000 from the big blind and was quickly called by the player on the button.
Niste tabled J♠J♥ for a flopped full house to win a pot worth well over six figures.

Bulent Aytekin limped from the cutoff, and Sukhrat Massimov raised to 4,000 on the button. Aytekin called.
Aytekin checked the K♥7♠3♥ flop and Massimov fired a continuation-bet of 5,000. Aytekin instantly check-raised to 10,000, which Massimov called.
Aytekin slowed down and checked the 8♦ turn, inviting Massimov to fire 17,000. Aytekin snap-called.
Aytekin checked for a third time on the 6♥ river. Massimov obliged with a bet of 25,000, prompting Aytekin to let out a loud sigh before check-jamming for around 70,000 while shaking his head from side to side.
Massimov smiled, peeked back at his cards one last time, then sent them into the muck.
