Duhamel Forces Deeb Out

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

On an {A-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{J-Spades} board, Freddy Deeb check-called Jonathan Duhamel's bet of 2,800. When the {Q-Clubs} landed on the river, Deeb checked to the reigning WSOP Main Event Champion again. Duhamel settled on 5,650 this time and Deeb didn't like his hand enough to call, tossing it to the muck.

Duhamel: Up to about 56,000
Deeb: Down to roughly 29,000

Veldhuis Loses One

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Team PokerStars Pro Lex Veldhuis has been up and down today, but has been hovering around the 40,000 mark for a little while now.

He called a raise to 850 in position and saw a {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop. His opponent made a contination bet of 1,500 and Veldhuis stuck around. The {J-Clubs} hit the turn and Veldhuis once again called his opponent's bet, this one for 2,500. Both players checked the {2-Spades} river card. Veldhuis' opponent showed {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}, good enough to take it down.

Veldhuis has about 40,600 at the moment.

Small Hit For Moneymaker

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Chris Moneymaker briefly had a stack of greater than 100,000, but just lost a small pot to slide under the six-figure mark.

The board read {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} and Moneymaker had a short-stacked opponent all in and at risk. While Moneymaker's {J-Hearts}{8-Clubs} was strong, his opponent tabled a dominating {J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}. The {10-Clubs} river card was no help to Moneymaker, now down to about 95,000.

Bergeron Chips Up

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Craig Bergeron raised to 800 from under the gun and received three callers including Glen Chorny and Tom Koral who final tabled last year's PCA Main Event. The flop fell {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and both blinds checked to Bergeron who continued for 1,600. Only Koral called.

Both players checked the {3-Hearts} on the turn, and after the {6-Diamonds} rivered Koral led for 3,100. Bergeron called tabling {k-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a king-high flush and Koral mucked.

Benyamine Rebounds

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Once over 100,000, David Benyamine slipped to under 80,000. However, he is threatening to hit six figures again after taking down a pot.

We caught up with the action on an {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} board that had about 7,000 in the middle. An opponent checked to Benyamine and he bet 4,800, receiving a quick call.

Benyamine tabled {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a full house, winning the pot and increasing his stack to about 94,000.

Whitt-ling Away

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

A player in middle position raised to 750 and found callers from the hijack and former PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge contestant Johnny Whitt. Three players watched as the flop fell {Q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Whitt checked to the initial raiser, who continuation bet 1,500.

Both the hijack and Whitt called as the dealer burned and turned the {3-Diamonds}. All three players proceeded to check, as they did when the {Q-Spades} hit the river.

Whitt: {4-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Middle Position: {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs}
Hijack: {K-Spades}{10-Spades}

The hijack's pair of tens was good enough to take down the pot; meanwhile, Whitt dropped a little to around 54,000.
