The Day 1b Chip Leader Falls

Ashton Griffin
Ashton Griffin

The Day 1b chip leader, Ashton Griffin, was just eliminated at the outer table.

We caught the action on a {J-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop when Griffin check-raised Andrey Shatilov, who subsequently called. When the {Q-Diamonds} hit the turn, Griffin moved all in for right around 135,000 and Shatilov made a long call with {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}. Griffin tabled {Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for top pair and a flush draw, which meant he needed to improve on the river to stay alive.

The dealer burned one last time and put out the {4-Clubs}, the last card Griffin, who was recently featured in the PokerNews Podcast, would see in the 2013 PCA Main Event.
