Gall Busts Duang, Katsushima Cracks Patni’s Aces

Down to his last 69,000 in chips Vietnam’s Thanh Ha Duong moved all-in from early position and the action folded around to Raphael Gall in the big blind, who asked for a count and then plonked out the call.

Thanh Ha Duong: {a-Spades}{6-Spades}
Raphael Gall: {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

“It’s my turn to hit,” said Duang, standing up as his fate was decided. The {k-Spades}{a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} flop appeared to be the perfect one for Duang, but unfortunately the {7-Hearts} hit the turn to give Gall a full house and the lead in the hand. The {j-Spades} river saw Gall stack up to 500,000 while Duang headed for the exit.

Another man who is no longer in the running is Kunal Patni who took a brutal beat at the hands of Shinji Katsushima, who opened the action from early position and Kunal Patni re-raised from middle position with the Japanese player making the call and taking the action heads-up to a flop of {7-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}.

Katsushima check-called Patni’s flop continuation bet and all the chips ended up in the middle on the {9-Hearts} turn.

Kunal Patni: {a-}{a-}
Shinji Katsushima: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Unfortunately for Patni his aces had just been out-turned by Katsushima’s set of nines and the {j-Diamonds} river saw the Indian player drop down to 20,000 while Katsushima stacked up to 425,000. Patni was unable to recover from that rather brutal setback and departed shortly afterward.
