Gardenhire Doubles Through Chip leader

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Reggie Tynes
Reggie Tynes

Justin Gardenhire raised to 3,000 under the gun only to have Reggie Tynes, the clear tournament chip leader, three-bet to 12,000 from late position. Action folded back to Gardenhire and he moved all in for 18,000 total, which Tynes called.

Reggie Tynes: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Justin Gardenhire; {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Gardenhire was looking to hold to score the double, which is exactly what he did after the board ran out a clean {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

Meanwhile, Bryan Campanello was eliminated from the tournament.

Blair Hinkle Wins RunGood Poker Series CardPlayer Cruise Main Event for 3rd RGPS Title

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Blair Hinkle

Last weekend, the RunGood Poker Series was on the high seas! They partnered with CardPlayer Cruises to host a series of events on a seven-day cruise in the Caribbean. There was a ton of poker action, and we thought it’d be fun to highlight some of the events right here in the blog.

The $360 buy-in RGPS CardPlayer Cruises Main Event saw 209 entrants battle it out over two starting flights on the Allure of the Seas.

Among those to get a piece of the prize pool were Karina Jett (27th - $669), Chad Holloway (26th - $669), Chris Conrad (23rd - $669), Tyler Patterson (22nd - $669), Preston McEwen (16th - $760), Grant Hinkle (15th - $973), Chip Jett (13th - $973), RGPS Council Bluffs champ Nick Burris (4th - $4,318) and former RGPS CardPlayer Cruises champ Shawn Sparks (3rd - $6,082).

In the end, the title came down to World Series of Poker bracelet winners Blair Hinkle and Dieter Dechant. The former held an 8:1 chip lead entering heads-up play and it didn’t take long for things to come to a head. Dechant jammed with queen-three and Hinkle called with ace-eight. An ace in the window sealed the deal for Hinkle, and Dechant had to settle for second place and $9,001 in prize money.

It marked the third RGPS Main Event title for Hinkle, who earlier this year won both the RGPS Grand OKC and Hard Rock Tulsa.

Hettick Triples; Gardenhire Wins the Side

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

The preflop action escaped us but we do know it resulted in a three-way all-in pot. Melinda Hettick was at risk for around 8,000 and Justin Gardenhire for 6,200 more than that. A third player had them both covered.

Melinda Hettick: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Justin Gardenhire: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

The {2-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop was gin for Hettick, who took the lead with a pair of queens. Neither the {7-Diamonds} turn nor {4-Spades} river changed a thing and Hettick tripled while Gardenhire collected the side pot.

Ace on the River Gets Sanders Paid

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Michael Sanders
Michael Sanders

Mark Martin and Michael Sanders each put in 5,000 preflop and saw a flop of {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}.

Sanders checked from the under-the-gun position and then called when Martin bet 5,000 from the hijack.

Both players then checked the {5-Spades} turn before Sanders bet 13,000 on the {a-Spades} river.

Martin called with the {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} but was left shaking his head when Sanders rolled over the {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for two pair.

Spriggs Shows the Bluff

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Rodney Spriggs, who is fresh off winning the WSOP Circuit Choctaw Durant Event #12: $250 NLH for $20,317 and his second circuit ring, raised to 1,600 from early position and picked up a called in the form of WSOP bracelet winner Bryan Campanello in the big blind.

Campanello check-called a bet of 2,400 on the {8-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop and then opted to lead out for 4,000 on the {j-Spades} turn. Spriggs made the call and then bet 11,000 after Campanello checked the {k-Spades} river.

Campanello thought long and hard before folding and Spriggs smiled and said, "Ace high."

He then flashed the {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for the missed open-ender on the flop.
