Seminole Hard Rock
Seminole Hard Rock

For the next week and a half, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood is playing host to the Seminole Hard Rock May Deep Stack Poker Series. In addition to this tournament, the series is comprised of two others including $560 buy-in The Deeper Stack, which will run May 20-22.

Players will start with 40,000 in chips in that tournament and play 40-minute levels through Level 14. Levels 15-26 will last 60 minutes each with Levels 27+ will switch to 90 minutes. Heads-up play will revert to 40-minute levels.

The plan for the Day 1 flights is to play through Level 14. Late registration and unlimited re-entries will be allowed until the start of Day 2. Like the Deep Stack, this is not a best-stack forward event.

The winner of the tournament will also receive an added $1,650 Main Event seat.

Last year, Chanpiseth Keam prevailed over a 432-entry field to win the Deeper Stack for $37,991. The year before that, Jeffrey Trudeau Jr. topped a 434-entry field to win it for $49,148, while Almog Biton topped a 452-entry field to win it in 2016 for $57,746.

Cuesta Cuts Down Billete

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Jorge Cuesta
Jorge Cuesta

Jorge Cuesta raised to 16,000 from middle position only to have Henry Billete three-bet all in for 97,000 from the big blind. Cuesta made the call and it was off to the race.

Cuesta: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Billete: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

Billete got it in good but fell behind on the {2-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{q-Spades} flop. Neither the {4-Hearts} turn nor {a-Spades} river helped Billete and he wished the table good luck before heading to the payout desk in 95th place to collect $504.

Nomikos and Sarache Both Bubble the May Deep Stack

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Chris Nomikos (L) and Javier Sarache (R)
Chris Nomikos (L) and Javier Sarache (R)

Shortly after the break, there were three all-ins at different tables that resulted in two eliminations.

One of them happened when Chris Nomikos got his stack all in on a {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop and another player called.

Nomikos: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

Nomikos had a flush draw and two over, but he missed as the {5-Hearts} bricked the turn followed by the {k-Spades} on the river.

Meanwhile, Javier Sarache got his short stack all in preflop and was at risk against five other players. Side action eventually saw Nir Peleg push out everyone else on the turn with the board reading {a-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

Peleg: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Sarache: {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

Sarache was looking for a ten on the river but it didn't come as the {5-Spades} bricked instead. Given the double elimination, Nomikos and Sarache split the $504 reserved for 96th place, meaning they each were awarded $252.

Level 16 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Jaime Tran moved all in for 11,000 from middle position and Alfredo Fernandez called next to act. The rest of the players folded and the hands were turned up.

Fernandez: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Tran: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Tran got it in with the best of it and shipped the double after the board ran out {3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

Van Sanford Ships a Bubble Double

Level 16 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Ryan Van Sanford (pictured Seat 3) got his stack of 86,000 all in preflop and was in a race against Javier Sarache (pictured in red), who only had a stack of 92,000.

Van Sanford: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Sarache: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

It was a flip but Van Sanford needed to improve to avoid becoming the bubble boy. He failed to do so on the {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop, but the dealer delivered salvation when the {k-Diamonds} spiked on the turn. The {2-Diamonds} river saw Van Sanford survive the bubble while Sarache was left with just 6,000.

In the very next hand, Sarache moved all in under the gun and Van Sanford isolated with a three-bet from the button.

Sarache: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}
Van Sanford: {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Sarache also staved off becoming the bubble boy, at least for now.

Billete is Back

Level 16 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Henry Billete
Henry Billete

With around 40,000 in the pot and a flop of {4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{q-Spades}, the player in the small blind checked and Dani Dayan did the same from the big. Henry Billete then moved all in for 60,000 from middle position and the small blind folded. Dayan pondered for a bit and then dropped in a call.

Billete: {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Dayan: {a-Spades}{3-Spades}

Both players had flopped a pair but Billete was out in front. Neither the {10-Hearts} nor {9-Clubs} river changed a thing and Billete shipped the double.

Level 16 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Matt Yorra
Matt Yorra

A short-stacked player got his last 22,000 all in preflop and found himself in a bad spot against "Miami" Matt Yorra.

Yorra: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}
Opponent: {k-}{9-}

Yorra had his opponent dominated and held when the board ran out a safe {q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}.
