Blaszczak Triples

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Ted Blaszczak open-shoved 220,000 and both Kevin Hetzer and Mark Roberts called.

They checked down the {8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} board and Blaszczak tripled up with two queens.

Doubling Through Dae Dae

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante

David Battaglia's slide continues.

Jeffrey Roth shoved some 300,000 and Battaglia came over the top all in with sevens. Roth had jacks and they held up to give him the double and leave Battaglia short heading into a break.

Hetzer Steals Dae Dae's Thunder

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante
Kevin Hetzer
Kevin Hetzer

David Battaglia raised it up to 100,000 and Kevin Hetzer shoved 700,000 behind him.

Battaglia called with the {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}, but was racing against Hetzer's {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}.

The {9-Spades}{k-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} run out gave Hester the kings and the double up, while Battaglia was left wondering what happened to all the momentum he'd been building up.

The Change-Up

Level 25 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante
David Battaglia
David Battaglia

Local legend David Battaglia, who makes pretty much every final table here these days, is on a tear in this one.

He's moved from the middle of the pack to a spot near the top over the past 30 minutes. Plus, he's been able to do so without having to show very much of anything.

Battaglia typically plays ABC poker, so either he's getting hit by the deck right now, or he's making a change in an effort to run even deeper than usual. Either way, Battaglia is in serious contention now.

Anthony Tavolino Eliminated in 9th Place ($1,764)

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Anthony Tavolino
Anthony Tavolino

Anthony Tavolino shoved some 150,000 over a Ted Blaszczak open. Mark Roberts called in the big blind and Blaszczak also called.

They checked down an {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} board and although Tavolino's {a-}{q-} made top pair, Roberts' two tens had rivered a set.

Blaszczak had two queens, but the pot was shipped to Roberts as Tavolino took ninth.

Double Double, Koch Out

Level 24 : 15,000/30,000, 4,000 ante
Anthony Koch
Anthony Koch

Ted Blaszczak pushed all in for 320,000 total over an Anthony Koch open.

Koch called with sevens, but Blaszczak had two kings. The kings held to give Blaszczak the double.

A minute later, Chris Harker shoved 500,000 over a Jeff Roth open and Koch called with jacks. Roth folded and Harker's tournament life was riding on the {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}.

Harker spiked a queen on the flop and with that double, Koch was suddenly short. He ran fours into David Battaglia's aces for the last of his stack immediately following, taking 10th for $1,360.
