With some 8,000 in the middle to the A♠J♥9♠8♠2♣ river, Rajah Vempati had checked and Dhinesh Soopramanien from Mauritius was ready to bet as he grabbed into his stack. Cliton Taliwanth told him that he had not checked yet and then checked. Soopramanien changed his mind and checked behind to see Vempati table the K♠Q♦ for the missed broadway and nut flush draw.
Taliwanth held Q♠10♠ for the effective nuts and Soopramanien mucked.
Mariette Language limped in and then faced a raise to 1,500 and the squeeze to 3,700 by Kyle van Blerk. She moved all-in with a shorter stack and van Blerk snap-called.

There was no miracle escape on the 7♠4♣2♠J♥5♣ runout and Language became the first casualty on Day 1a. Soon after, Darryll Shaff was also sent to the rail as 37 players out of 39 entries remain.
The field has reached 33 entries with Joe Rahme and Banks Solomons now sharing one of the most recently opened tables.
The second level of the day is underway for the ZAR50,000 High Roller and the field has reached 47 entries, of which 21 players currently remain. Newest additions to the field include Max Deveson, Marko Nortje and Jarred Solomon. Among the big stacks right now is Kinesh Pather.
Three ways to the 7♦5♠4♣2♥ turn, Kyle van Blerk checked out of the small blind and Mariette Language bet 3,000 in an early position. Pravir Rama called on the button while van Blerk folded.
Both then checked the 6♦ on the river and Language tabled K♣7♣, which was beaten by the A♦7♥ of Rama which he took with a rather dry "well done".

Having just arrived at the table, Stephen Courtney squeezed to 2,100 preflop and was called by Sugen Singh as well as Hennie Appel. They checked the A♠A♣K♠ flop and Appel bet the 4♠ turn for 1,300, only Courtney called.
After the 6♥ river, Appel bet 2,900 and Courtney raised to 10,000 in order to force an instant fold. Before raking in the pot, Courtney flashed the A♦.
The field is now up to 22 entries split across four tables and more players are expected soon, as all local satellite winners have to enter on Day 1a.
Three ways to the A♠Q♠8♠7♦ turn, Vinaj Lala bet for 1,000 out of the small blind and was called two ways including by Anjan Hellstrom on the button. The 3♠ river was checked to Hellstrom, who bet 1,200 and forced an instant fold. Hellstrom revealed the K♠ before collecting the pot.
