Givens Snap-Calls

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Will Givens
Will Givens

Three players limped in, but Will Givens decided to charge them big by bumping it to 2,300 in the big blind. Only the early-position limper called, and an {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop hit the felt. Givens bet 2,500, and his opponent raised to 5,500. Givens called and then checked the {k-Spades}. His opponent thought briefly before moving all in, and Givens snapped with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}, putting his opponent at risk for about 20,000. The player tabled {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for top two on the flop. The board paired on the end, but it was a {4-Hearts}, no harm to Givens' nut flush.

Abuzar Not Chopping

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Karim Abuzar
Karim Abuzar

A player in middle position bet 2,000 on a {3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{q-Clubs} flop, and Karim Abuzar made it 5,000 on her left. The small blind, who had checked, woke up with an all-in shove for 16,400, forcing the bettor to fold. Abuzar asked for the count and thought for a minute.

"I'll give it to you," he said finally, placing in calling chips.

He needn't have worried, as his {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} dominated his opponent's {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. The turn and river were {2-Diamonds} and {4-Hearts}.

"Chop," the dealer mistakenly said.

"Is it really?" the player with queen-nine said hopefully.

The dealer apologized and corrected his mistake, and Abuzar took it with a wheel.

Givens, Wahdan Reload the Clips

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante
Nader Wahdan
Nader Wahdan

Three players put in 1,350 preflop, and the small blind, who had the preflop lead, bet 5,000 on the {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop. Nader Wahdan jammed his last 6,800, and a third player folded. The small blind called the small shove with {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}, and Wahdan had {q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for top pair and a flush draw.

"I had hearts," a player said.

"I had a seven," another chimed in.

Wahdan's situation looked less rosy with some outs dead, and sure enough, two bricks fell to eliminate him. He headed to registration to fire bullet number three.

Will Givens also went bust in a hand we didn't see, and he's now seated again with a fresh stack.

Vanstrom Doubles Up

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Jason Vanstrom got his last 8,600 all in on an {8-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} board and was called by a player holding {j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}. Vanstrom was barely sweating as he held {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} for top-top, and no jack emerged to sink him on the river.

Wahdan Stuck in Reverse

Level 4 : 100/200, 25 ante

Nader Wahdan already busted his first bullet, and his second isn't going much better.

On a {9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} board, he check-called 7,000 in the hijack against cutoff Nick Kromschroeder. The board paired with the {8-Spades} on the end, and Wahdan checked and saw Kromschroeder bet 10,000. Wahdan glanced at his opponent a couple of times and then made what looked like a crying call after a sigh. Kromschroeder showed {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a missed combo draw that turned into trips, and Wahdan mucked.
