More Late-Night Chip Counts

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Justin Thurlow has seen his stack climb to 405,000 and Brandon Waalen is not far behind him at 395,000, making the two the largest stacks in the room early in the penultimate level of the evening. Thirty-six players now remain on four full tables, and play will continue until the end of Level 15 unless the 12% figure of 26 players is reached before that time.

Bowman Sends One To the Rail

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

A player announced he was all in for his last 35,000 from the cutoff and Jesse Bowman quickly went all in over the top of him on the button. Both players in the blinds folded.

All-In Player: {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Jesse Bowman: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Bowman had his opponent drawing dead by the turn as the board ran out {2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{k-Spades} and the pot was shipped his way.

Chip Count Update

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Forty-one players remain with under 10 minutes left in Level 13. Here's an update to some chip counts.

Bohn Back Over 200,000

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Blake Bohn
Blake Bohn

Action folded around to the player on the button and he went all in for his last 10 or so big blinds. Blake Bohn reraised all in out of the small blind and got a fold from the big blind to result in hands being tabled in preparation for the runout.

All-In Player: {8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Blake Bohn: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

"Classic race!" said Bohn as he saw the all-in player's hand before tabling his own. The flop came {j-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and the turn {3-Hearts} fell behind it, leaving the all-in player with one card left in his tournament life. That card proved to be his last as the river {4-Hearts} hit the felt and the pot was shipped Bohn's way.

Greenstein Pays Melancon a Visit

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Jay Melancon
Jay Melancon

Jay Melancon three-bet all in from the small blind over a cutoff open and received a call.

Jay Melancon: {a-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Cutoff: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The flop {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} and turn {2-Hearts} left Melancon with one last chance at a three outer to stay alive. Luckily for him, the prettiest card in the deck {a-Spades} came on the river to save him from the brink of elimination and bring him up to 131,000.

Rockowitz Temporarily Toasted

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Jesse Rockowitz
Jesse Rockowitz

Jesse Rockowitz was standing up from his seat and was in the process of being eliminated from the tournament as the runout finished and his hand was mucked. Three spades were on board and Justin Thurlow's winning hand of {q-Spades}{9-Spades} was still tabled for a moment as the pot was shipped his way before the cards were scooped up.

According to Thurlow after the hand, he opened on the button and Rockowitz committed the last of his chips from the big blind with {8-}{6-}. Thurlow's flush was best when all was said and done and he delivered the final blow to Rockowitz after he stuck around with a short stack for nearly two hours before being eliminated from the tournament. However, he wasted no time using his reentry and has found a new seat and a fresh starting stack of 25,000.
