Ghanem Gets Paid

Level 17 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Gerald Cunniff raised to 17,000 and Saad Ghanem called from the small blind before Craig Mason called from the big blind.

The flop was {10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and all three players checked to see {5-Spades} on the turn. They checked again and the river was {9-Diamonds}.

Ghanem fired 26,000 on the river and Mason got out of the way.

"That was the worst river card," Cunniff said before he reluctantly called.

Ghanem turned over {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} to take the pot with a straight and Cunniff threw the losing cards in the muck.

"Set of nines," Cunniff said.
