Borrero Acknowledges He Was Beat

Four players saw the flop for 2,000 each and it came {7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. Action was checked by the first player and Melih Birdal bet 3,000. The next player called as did Miguel Borrero. The first player folded.

The turn brought the {Q-Clubs} and all three of the players remaining checked. The river then completed the board with the {J-Clubs} and Birdal fired 5,000. The next player folded, but it wasn't so easy for Borrero to let go. He tanked for a couple minutes, but did end up folding his hand eventually. He was knocked down to 17,500 as Birdal showed him just the {J-Diamonds}.

"That had me beat," said Borrero.

Pilgrim Sends One to the Rail

On a flop of {9-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, Dwyte Pilgrim checked and enticed his opponent in Seat 1 to bet 1,500. Pilgrim, who had more chips, moved all-in and Seat 1 called for nearly 15,000.

Seat 1: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Pilgrim: {J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

The two players shook hands and wished each other good luck. However, the jovial atmosphere changed when the {8-Diamonds} hit the turn and Seat One realized he had been eliminated. He made a hasty exit as Pilgrim, who is now sitting around 35,000, stacked his chips.

Dwyte Pilgrim

On the flop of {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, Dwyte Pilgrim and an opponent got all the money into the middle. Pilgrim had the most chips and held the best hand with the {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. His at-risk opponent held the {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}.

The turn brought the {K-Hearts} to complete the all-in player's flush. The river completed the board with the {5-Diamonds} and Pilgrim sent over the 8,675 he owed. Pilgrim dropped to 23,000 in chips.

Bracelet Winner in the House

Robert Cheung raised to 950 from middle position and managed to take down the blinds and antes, bringing his stack up to 24,000. Cheung, who has been playing patiently all day, has five WSOPC cashes for $114,060 and a WSOP gold bracelet for his victory in the 2007 WSOP $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Event #38, for which he took home $673,628. No stranger to success, Cheung is looking to add to his poker résumé with a deep run in this event.

Cloutier Hanging Tough

T.J. Cloutier and two opponents each invested 1,200 preflop to see a flop of {2-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. After the small blind checked, Cloutier fired out 1,500. Both his opponents mucked and Cloutier flipped over {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}. "What a flop for that hand," he said as a big Texas grin arched across his face. He is now up to 28,500.
