Lucky Linciano Doubles Up

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Jean-Philippe Schoonbrood opened for 900 from the cut-off and got a call from the player om the button. Danilel Linciano in the small blind three-bet to 3,700 and while Schoonbrood called the other player folded.

It was heads-up to a flop of {j-Hearts}{a-Spades}{8-Spades} and Linciano continued for 3,500. Schoonbrood called and the turn was the {q-Clubs}.

Linciano bet 8,600 and when Schoonbrood moved all in Linciano quickly called for his tournament life.

“You have a straight?” Schoonbrood asked with some trepidation and Linciano confirmed his fears when he showed {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} while Schoonbrood was drawing thin with his flopped set holding {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

The river card {9-Diamonds} completed the board and the pain for Schoonbrood who lamented, “I wanted to raise you on the flop but I tried to trap.”

With most of his stack going into that pot Schoonbrood walked away from the table to clear his head.
