Nathan Hagens
Nathan Hagens has just been eliminated by Ted Forrest. Both flopped a flush draw that came on the turn. The problem was that Hagen's flush was only seven high whereas Forrest's was the second nuts.
Hagens bet the turn and Forrest called. Hagens bet the river too and normally this would cause Forrest to stop and think if his opponent had the nut flush but seeing as Hagen only had about 8,000 back, this wasn't a worry.
Forrest duly put him all-in and was happy with the results.
Layne Flack
As mentioned before, with the elimination of Francisco Azares in 13th, Layne Flack is now guaranteed to make money in this event.
Having rebought 20-plus times, he was in for over $30,000, but the $36,106 that awaits the 12th-place winner means he's guaranteed to end this one in the black.
You're not gonna carry a grizzly on your back, no way...
The discussion about weapons of choice when trying to kill tigers and/or grizzly bears, begun earlier this afternoon, has lingered on into the night.
"I mean, think about this," said Ted Forrest to Nathan Hagens, wishing to draw a distinction. "The Siegfried and Roy show... They carry a 300-lb. tiger on their back. You're not gonna carry a grizzly bear on your back...."
"No fun the first time I did it!" yelled Layne Flack from the other table.
Francisco Azares
It all went in preflop and the two players were Layne Flack and Francisco Azares.
Flack showed .
Azares showed .
The flop came to which Flack commented 'Wow, what a flop for me. Top set and open-ended straight draw'.
The turn and river sealed the deal and we lose another player, ever creeping closer to the final table.
Flack then jumped about celebrating, having burst his own private bubble. He finally reached a payout level greater than the amount of his outlayed rebuys.
Thomas Wahlroos
After winning that big hand just before in which Tino Lechich was eliminated, Wahlroos found himself involved in another huge pot soon afterwards.
On a flop of , Michael Guzzardi bet the pot, Wahlroos reraised with his entire 163,000, and Guzzardi called.
Guzzardi held -- he'd flopped the nut flush. Wahlroos had -- he'd flopped top set.
The turn brought the and the river the , and Wahlroos was done. "There was so much money in the pot, I had to gamble," he said afterwards.
Guzzardi is now up to 810,000. He and Kyle Kloeckner are at the top of the leaderboard at the moment.
