Tommy Vedes Eliminated in 8th Place ($86,889)

Tommy Vedes
Tommy Vedes

A short-stacked Tommy Vedes moved all in for 145,000 when action folded to him in the hijack, and he was immediately met with a call from Thomas Conway in the cutoff. The button and blinds got out of the way, and the cards were turned up:

Showdown
Conway: {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Vedes: {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}

According to the PokerNews Odds Calculator, Vedes was a 63.64% favorite in the hand, and he was mainly looking to dodge a king. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't do it as the flop came down {A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and gave him just a 4.24% chance of surviving the hand.

Vedes got up out of his seat, collected his things, and began to bid adieu to the other players, but stopped after the {Q-Clubs} turned, giving him some hope of a chop with a ten. Any hope he had was crushed when the {3-Diamonds} appeared on the river, and Vedes finished shaking hands with the table before taking his leave in eighth place.
