Deluca Avoids the Bubble

We walked over to Table 428 to find Matthew Deluca all in for his tournament life with {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} against Marvin Rettenmaier's {8-Spades}{8-Spades}. Deluca couldn't bring himself to watch the flop and walked away from the table. With Deluca standing near the tournament clock, the dealer gave Rettenmaier an early lead with a flop of {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}, but Deluca had plenty of outs to stay alive. The {3-Hearts} on the turn was a huge blank, but the {J-Hearts} on the river gave Deluca a winning straight and a pot worth nearly 140,000.

"You got there," Will Failla said as Deluca walked back to the table. "You needed it, but you got there."

Deluca let out a sigh of relief as he began stacking his new found chips.
