Burkholder Finds a Double

Level 18

Limit Hold'em

John Hennigan was under the gun, and with the blinds at 15,000/30,000, he put out 40,000. This was ruled a call, and the action folded to Burkholder, who raised in the big blind. Hennigan made it three bets, Burkholder went all in for 91,000, and Hennigan called.

Hennigan: {a-Spades}{2-Spades}
Burkholder: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Burkholder was in great shape do double, and let out a little whoop when the {q-Hearts} peaked through the window of the flop. His look of delight changed to one of concern when it was followed by the {5-Clubs} and the {4-Diamonds}, however, and Hennigan had found a wheel draw.

Unfortunately for Hennigan - and the short stacks in the room looking to burst the bubble and secure themselves a six-figure score - the turn and river bricked {9-Diamonds}, {k-Spades}, and Burkholder doubled to 197,000 chips.

Burkholder in Trouble

Level 18

Pot-Limit Omaha

Huck Seed raised on the button, Troy Burkholder defended out of the big blind, and both players checked on a flop of {10-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{a-Spades}. The turn was the {5-Diamonds}, Burkholder led out for 40,000, and Seed called.

The {3-Clubs} completed the board, Burkholder fired out another 100,000, and Seed tank-called. Burkholder was slow to table his hand, prompting Seed to spread {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for aces and tens. Burkholder tabled {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}, mucking the rest of his hand and leaving himself with just 78,000 chips.

Play Resumes at Same Blind Level

Level 18

Since the tournament is now playing hand for hand on the bubble, the blinds will not increase until a full hour passes. At that point the tournament structure will resume normally, but until then, we will remain at the same level.

Pescatori's Elimination Brings About the Money Bubble

Razz

Tommy Hang: {6-}{7-} / {9-}{10-}{q-}{5-} / {K-}
Max Pescatori: {a-}{7-} / {6-}{j-}{2-}{q-} / {2-}

Tommy Hang brought it in and then called when Max Pescatori completed. Hang took the lead on fourth and promptly bet, which inspired Pescatori to raise all in. Hang called and the cards were tabled. Hang ended up making a 10-9-7-6-5 on sixth, which meant Pescatori, who had a J-7-6-2-A, needed to improve on seventh to stay alive.

The "Italian Pirate" squeezed out his card, but the {2-} he looked down at paired his hand and wound up being the last card he would see in Event #55: The $50,000 Poker Players' Championship. With that, we're down to the final 17 and on the money bubble.

Hang Headed Back in the Right Direction

Level 18

Omaha-8

Tommy Hang raised from the hijack and Mike Gorondinsky defended from the big blind. The {9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop saw Gorodinsky check-call a bet before leading out on the {7-Clubs} turn. Hang called and then called a bet on the {5-Diamonds} river.

Hang tabled the {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for the nut low and a flush, which was good enough to scoop the pot.

Hang Continues to Slide

Level 18

Omaha-8

Tommy Hang raised from the cutoff and then called when Jonathan Duhamel three-bet from the button. Hand then check-called a bet on the {10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs} flop before both players checked the {6-Hearts} turn. Hang checked for a third time on the {K-Spades} river and then called when Duhamel bet.

Hang tabled the {a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{8-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a pair of tens, but it was no good as Duhamel held the {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades} for aces.

Full House for Hang

Level 18

Omaha-8

Tommy Hang limped in from the hijack seat, Mike Gorodinsky checked in his big blind, and the flop came down {4-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Spades}. Gorodinsky check-called a bet, then led out when the {3-Diamonds} turned. Hang raised, Gorodinsky called, and the river was the {3-Clubs}. Gorodinsky check-called a bet, then mucked when Hang showed {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts} for a full house.

Song Doubles Through Kenney

Level 18

No-Limit Hold'em

With around 300,000 in the pot, and the board reading {q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, Bryn Kenney was faced with an all-in bet of 413,000 from Kevin Song. After spending several minutes in the tank, Kenney called, and there was a beat before Song showed {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for top two pair.

Kenney tabled {q-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and was drawing dead. A meaningless {5-Clubs} completed the board, and Song doubled to 1.14 million. Kenney fell to 615,000.
