Kempe Not Afraid of the Kings

Level 8 : 250/500, 75 ante

Jameson Painter wasn't sitting in his original seat anymore and has been replaced by Rainer Kempe. Alexander Lakhov, who busted earlier, has reentered and taken a seat at the same table but seems to have lost it all again as Ben Palmer has taken his seat now.

The player in early position raised to 500 and the player in the hijack three-bet to 1,200. Rainer Kempe four-bet to 3,800 from the small blind. The initial raiser folded and the hijack called.

The flop came {6-Spades}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, Kempe bet 2,700 and his opponent shoved with the bigger stack. Kempe snap-called.

Rainer Kempe: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Hijack: {A-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The rest of the board was completed with the {7-Spades} on the turn and the {6-Clubs} on the river to provide Kempe with a double-up.

Steinman Shoves

Level 8 : 250/500, 75 ante

The board read {a-Clubs}{9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and there was around 8,100 in the middle already.

The player in the big blind bet 2,500 and Ian Steinman shoved from the hijack. His opponent hesitated for a few seconds but then decided to fold.

O'Kearney Out

Level 8 : 250/500, 75 ante
Dara O'Kearney
Dara O'Kearney

Dara O'Kearney has been eliminated and was kind enough to tell the live reporting team what had happened:

The player in the under-the-gun position raised to 1,100. O'Kearney held {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts} in the cutoff and called. So did the players on the button and in the big blind.

The flop came {q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, the big blind, the initial raiser, and O'Kearney all checked. The button bet 1,600. The big blind folded, the initial raiser shoved for about 16,000. O'Kearney was the only one to call.

His opponent held {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a flush but O'Kearney had the nut-flush.

The rest of the board was completed with a {q-} on the turn and the {8-Hearts} on the river to give O'Kearney's opponent the straight flush to take O'Kearney out of the tournament.

McKeehen Gets It on Turn

Level 8 : 250/500, 75 ante

Joe McKeehen was on the button, flatting a 1,125-raise from his right-hand opponent when we arrived. The big blind came along and they saw the {7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} flop where the original aggressor fired 1,400. Only McKeehen called and they continued heads-up to the {J-Diamonds} turn. The action was checked to McKeehen who fired 2,500 in position, enough to take the pot as his opponent laid his hand down.

Ho Slips

Level 8 : 250/500, 75 ante

Maria Ho raised from middle position, the button three-bet shoved for about 7,400, and Ho called with a covering stack.

Maria Ho: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Button: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The button had the lead with the better ace and Ho needed to improve in order to stack him. Although she picked up a big draw on the {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop, the {2-Hearts} turn and {5-Spades} river were no help to her, so her opponent took the pot to double up.

Berkey Flashes Jack of Hearts

Level 8 : 250/500, 75 ante

Matt Berkey was in the big blind, checking the {J-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades}{A-Hearts} river. There was about 10,000 in the pot and his opponent, sitting in the middle position, wanted to see Berkey's remaining stack. Berkey had only two chips in front of him, worth 6,000 total. The other player moved all in and Berkey clapped his hands a few times, then shuffled his cards and eventually flashed the {J-Hearts} before folding.
