Gillard Hero Call Pays Off

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

With 10,000 in the middle and the board reading {3-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, Bertrand Gillard bet 3,000 from early position and was raised by the button for 8,000. Gillard made the call. The river {9-Clubs} prompted the button to bet 15,000.

The Frenchman mulled over his decision before eventually calling. The button turned over {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}, whilst Gillard calmly turned over {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} and took a significant pot.

Lui Doubles Up with a Full House

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Joining the action heads up on the turn with the board {q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{q-Hearts}. Matthew Lui called his opponents 25,000 bet.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and his opponent bet 75,000 putting Lui all in. Lui instantly made the call.

Matthew Lui: {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

His opponent was drawing thin and failed to improve on the {8-Diamonds} river as Lui doubled up.

Grant Clings To Life

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Calum Grant
Calum Grant

Calum Grant may have been previously decimated, but he was not quite done as he got it all in preflop a few hands later.

Shoving for 9,300 from the cutoff, the big blind called and cards were flipped.

Calum Grant: {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Big Blind: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

The flop ran {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, with Grant checking his flush draw was live before commenting "That's good for me!"

The turn fell {10-Clubs}, leaving him with 4 outs to fade on the river.

A harmless {6-Clubs} gave him the double up, and restored a little life to his stack.

Eisenberg's Pocket Kings Hold Up

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Lara Eisenberg
Lara Eisenberg

Back for another shot at gold, Lara Eisenberg, 2021's WSOP Ladies Championship winner, put all she had pre-flop into the pot with her pocket kings. Thankfully, the board came up in her favor.

Lara Eisenberg: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

With both cards tabled, Lara stood up from the table as if preparing to exit the tournament. Her 21 big blinds were at risk, but there was no need to leave, as the board came out {j-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}. Lara rejoined the table and got to continue on in her journey.

Mkhitaryan Finds Three Streets of Value

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Aram Mkhitaryan opened the action from under the gun to 2400. Next to act called, as does the cut-off.

On a flop of {q-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} Mkhitaryan continued for 4,000 and only the player to his left made the call.

The turn brought the {10-Hearts} with Mkhitaryan betting 9,000 and again is called by his opponent.

When the {2-Hearts} river completed the board, Mkhitaryan decided on a sizing of 15,000. After a few moments his opponent flicked in a single chip, signifying a call and is shown the bad news when Mkhitaryan confidently turns over {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} for an over-pair.

His opponent politely showed him {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} while he was dragging in the sizable pot.

Grant Decimated by Villa

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Santiago Villa opened for 2,100 from under-the-gun and was called by early position and the cutoff. Calum Grant on the button raised to 10,000. Villa moved all-in for 46,400 which brought folds from early position and cutoff. Grant made the call.

Santiago Villa: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Calum Grant: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

In a classic race, the first four streets of {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{j-Diamonds} were safe for Grant but the jack on the turn gave Villa two additional outs. The {k-Clubs} on the river gave Villa a pair of kings and obliterated the Welshman's stack.

Battle of the Bobs

Level 6 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Action was four ways as a player raised from under the gun. Bob Zeidman called in the hijack and Bob Scholz on the button. The big blind also called.

Action was checked to Zeidman who bet 7,000 and was called by only Scholz on the {k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} board.

The turn brought the {9-Diamonds} in which Zeidman checked to Scholz who threw in a single 25,000 chip. Zeidman then moved all in for 86,500. Scholz thought for a while before folding his hand face up showing {k-}{j-} for trips. Zeidman was kind enough to show as he turned over {6-}{6-} for a flopped full house as he moved the chips towards him.
