Shaun Deeb beat Isaac Haxton on Thursday heads-up to win his seventh World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet. He moved into first place in the Player of the Year standings with the victory.
The New York poker pro conquered Event #79: $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller, beating out 121 entrants for $2,957,229, more than double his previous largest live tournament cash.
The players are heading for their final break of the day in the 2025 WSOP Main Event.
Of the 1,093 players that showed up to play Day 1b, 894 still have chips to play with.
Here are some highlights from the most recent level:
Play is expected to resume at 10:28 p.m. local time, and the players will return to 300/600 blind levels with a 600 big blind ante.
Simon Britton raised to 1,200 in middle position before Yoon Shin three-bet to 3,200 in the hijack. Brent Jenkins four-bet to 11,000 on the button.
"You get no respect," a tablemate said to Britton.
"I've gotten lots of respect today, except here," Britton replied.
Action then went on Eben Kurtzman who moved all in for 68,000 in the small blind. "This is the table to be. Too much blood. This is a fun table. Do you enjoy this table?" Ruben Correia said to tablemate Michael Mizrachi, who simply smiled and shrugged.
Action folded back to Shin who tanked for a minute before folding. Jenkins also folded and Kurtzman showed K♠K♣ as he took the pot.
Steve Sebbag opened the action from under the gun, with a raise to 1,200. Jonathan Fader made the call, before Lucas Bandeira opted to three-bet to 4,000. Sebbag four-bet to 9,500, Fader folded, and Bandeira called.
Sebbag then fired out for 6,500 on the J♦6♠9♠ flop, and Bandeira called. Both the 7♣ turn and 10♥ river went check-check. Sebbag's K♦K♣ was good enough to take the pot.
Murly Manokharan made it 1,000 under the gun. John McNeil was next to act, and he tossed in the 4,100 he had remaining. Michael Troutt called on the button, and Manokharan let his hand go.
John McNeil: A♠6♦
Michael Troutt: 10♠10♦
The K♥8♠9♠K♠9♥ remained free of aces, and McNeil said his goodbyes before he was sent to the rail.
Ioannis Pentefountas opened to 1,100 from under the gun and Stephen Friedrich called from middle position. John Hennigan three-bet to 3,500 on the button, and both players called.
The 3♥6♥9♦ flop was checked by Pentefountas and Friedrich, and Hennigan bet 6,000. Pentefountas folded, Friedrich raised to 16,000 and Hennigan called.
A K♣ was turned and Friedrich bet 15,000. Hennigan called, taking them to the A♠ river.
Friedrich bet 10,000 and Hennigan called. Friedrich showed 6♣6♦ for a set of sixes which he had made on the flop. Hennigan mucked.
