Shulruf Makes the Right Call

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

A pot was brewing between Joel Shulruf and Lawrence Beach with a little over 40,000 in the middle on the turn with the board reading JJ6Q. Shulruf checked to Beach who jammed as the covering stack for 58,000 effective, sending Shulruf deep into the tank.

After a couple minutes, someone at the table called clock. When the floor came over, it was disputed whether or not Shulruf had enough time to act on his hand, with tablemate Nova Baghdasarian coming to his defense. However, the countdown would begin and Shulruf landed on call shortly after.

Joel Shulruf: KK All in
Lawrence Beach: AQ

"I knew that's what you had," Beach lamented as he found out he was in bad shape against Shulruf's kings with a diamond.

The river was the 2, improving Shulruf to a flush as he doubled his stack.

"I thought I had the ace of diamonds," Beach admitted in the post-mortem, "But I didn't want to look back at my cards."
