'Terrible Hand' is Good

Level 21

Big O

Before plopping enough green chips down to cover Lawrence Brandt's 111,000-chip all-in, Jean Laurent said, "I have a terrible hand," as if he weren't going to make the call.

"Uh oh," two players at the table said in unison.

They were right.

Lawrence Brandt: A8642All in
Jean Laurent: AQJJ5

The runout 4101082 brought bad news for Brandt, as his pair of eights wasn't good enough to top Laurent's jacks, and his low was not low enough.

Newberry Fades the Freeroll

Level 21

Big O

Ariel Mantel managed to get his full stack in preflop, facing a big-stacked James Newberry, who was looking to score an elimination.

Ariel Mantel: AKQ62 All in
James Newberry: AK952

The preflop matchup was relatively even, but the J104 flop gave Mantel the advantage as he picked up more straight outs than his opponent. The 4 turn confirmed that there would be no low, and Mantel was looking to catch a king or a nine for the full double, unable to be knocked out. The river Q was what Mantel would've hoped for preflop, but it gave both players Broadway, and the pot was split.

Frederici Hits the River Against Liberto

Level 21

Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo

Action was picked up on the turn in a pot between Seth Frederici in late position and Justin Liberto in the cutoff with a pot brewing between the two of them.

With a board reading 10848, Frederici moved his stack all in to put 220,000 infront of him and Liberto sighed before calling with the covering stack.

Seth Frederici: AJ32 All in
Justin Liberto: A643

A J peeled off on the river to give Frederici jacks and eights, eliciting a fist-pump from Frederici as he raked in the pot from the WSOP bracelet winner.

Benson Scores Big Double Through Hausen

Level 21

Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo

Action was picked up on a flop of 106Q with big blind Gary Benson all in and at risk against under the gun player Tobias Hausen.

Gary Benson: QQJ84 All in
Tobias Hausen: AAJ62

Benson's flopped set improved to a boat on the 10 turn, leaving Hausen drawing to just a Greenstein on the river. The needle K did improve him, but Broadway was not enough as he handed over almost 300,000 to his tablemate.

Quarters Apiece for Lamprea and Costa

Level 21

Big O

Action was picked up on a flop of J73 with Gebrehiwet Goitom, Marcelo V.R. Costa, and Juan Lamprea tangled in a three-way all in. Goitom was the covering stack.

Juan Lamprea: AKQJ2 All in
Marcelo V.R. Costa: AKK52 All in
Gebrehiwet Goitom: AJ543

Goitom locked up the high with a straight on the 6 turn, and was freerolling for the low, looking for a deuce to knock out both opponents. The 8 river meant that they would stay alive, but would have to settle for just a quarter of the pot with the nut low.

Bradford Hanging In

Level 20

Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo

Corey Bradford survived back-to-back all-ins to keep his seat for a while.

First, Bradford split a pot with Phillip Hui.

Corey Bradford: KJ65All in
Phillip Hui: AQ82

After Hui ran off the rest of the table on the flop, Bradford got a runner-runner flush to take the high and split with Hui's nut-low on a board of 105Q78.

In the next hand, Bradford was all-in against Jean Laurent and Robert Tahirovic preflop.

After the flop hit 6J2, Laurent bet 75,000 chips. Tahirovic took quite a while to deliberate, before sliding his cards across the table to the dealer.

Corey Bradford: AK73All in
Jean Laurent: AQJ4

Bradfor'd nut-low draw came on the turn of the 7. After the 8 river, Laurent's pair of jacks was still good enough for the high.

Vladimirov Quarters Harder and Wood

Level 20

Omaha Hi-Lo

Action was picked up on the flop in a four-way pot between Tanner Martinelli in the big blind, Sergej Vladimirov in first position, Christian Harder in late position, and Gregory Wood in the cutoff.

The flop rolled out K84 and Martinelli checked over to Vladmirov who bet to see Harder raise all in for 29,000. Wood raised to see Martinelli fold and Vladmirov put in an additional bet to see Wood match it.

Vladmirov check-called the bet from Wood on the turn 5 to the river 7 where action checked through.

Christian Harder: AJ102 All in
Gregory Wood: AKJ2
Sergej Vladimirov: AQ63

Harder and Wood shared the low, while Vladmirov had rivered a seven-high straight to take the high and quarter both of his opponents.
