It was the Hallman/Gilbert show again with James Gilbert moving all in from under the gun for 9,500,000 and Wanda Hallman three-betting all in over the top to isolate. The rest of the table folded.
James Gilbert: K♦10♥
Wanda Hallman : 7♥7♦
The flop was good to Gilbert again when it came 2♦K♠J♥, and there was no reprieve for Hallman on the 4♦ turn or the K♥ river, and Gilbert was pushed the pot this time for the double.
Brian Smith raised to 5,500,000 on the button and went deep into the tank when Thomas Hall moved all in for 59,500,000 from the big blind.
After several minutes passed, Smith folded.
The very next shuffle, Smith raised to 6,000,000 from the cutoff, and Hall jammed again; this time, Smith snap-called.
Thomas Hall: A♣K♦
Brian Smith: A♠K♣
Both players held big slick, and when the board brought no blood, they pulled their chips back.
Edward Pak moved all in for 13,500,000 from the cutoff and was at risk when David "ODB" Baker called in the small blind.
Edward Pak: K♦9♠
David "ODB" Baker: A♥3♥
Pak took an immediate lead on the Q♦5♣K♠ flop, and stayed in front for a double-up across the 4♦ turn and 8♥ river.
James Gilbert open-jammed all in from late position for around 18,000,000, and action was on Wanda Hallman in the hijack, who also moved all in but for less. The blinds folded quickly.
Wanda Hallman: A♣A♦
James Gilbert: J♦10♦
Not the flop Hallman was looking for came 10♣3♣9♥, and when the 10♠ peeled off on the turn, it was looking grim. However, the poker gods must have been reading Barry Greenstein today and served up the A♠ on the river to make Hallman a full house for a double-up.
Brian Smith made it 5,500,000 to play from under the gun, and action folded around to Lucas Lew on the button, who three-bet all in for 35,000,000. It came back to Smith, who thought for a while before he slammed in the call.
Lucas Lew: A♠J♦
Brian Smith: A♦Q♠
Lew was in trouble and needed some help from the poker gods to stay alive. The 2♥6♥7♦ flop didn't change affairs, and when the 9♥ turn and 10♦ river both drew blanks, Lew was sent to the cage in 17th spot.
Brian Smith raised to 5,500,000 from the hijack, which only Thomas Hall called on the button.
Smith continued for 7,500,000 on a 6♠9♠10♦ flop, which saw Hall respond by moving all in, having Smith covered. Smith just about beat Hall into the pot with a call.
Brian Smith: 8♠8♦
Thomas Hall: A♦10♣
The 4♦ turn had no effect, but the 7♦ river improved Smith to a straight, ensuring his survival with a double-up to boot.
The very next shuffle, Vinay Boob raised to 5,000,000 from the hijack, and Hall got back on the horse, three-betting to 11,500,000. The action folded back to Boob, who returned his cards to the dealer.
Fausto Valdez raised to 6,500,000 from early position, which left him just 2,000,000 behind.
Action folded around to Vincent Lavollee in the big blind, who moved all in. Valdez went into the tank hoping for a pay jump, which was not forthcoming, before he tossed in his remaining 2,000,000 to put himself at risk.
Fausto Valdez: K♣5♠
Vincent Lavollee: K♦9♠
Although Valdez hit his two pair on the A♣8♠K♠9x5x runout, it was no good as Lavollee hit a higher two pair and Valdez was sent to the rail in 18th place.
