Action picked up on the flop of Q♠7♦Q♦ in a hand between the under-the-gun Greg Ostrander and Faraz Jaka in the small blind.
With about 50,000 already in the middle, the rest of the money went in with Ostrander the one at risk for his remaining 93,500.
Greg Ostrander: A♦J♦
Faraz Jaka: A♣A♥
Ostrander found a diamond on the 4♦ turn to improve to the nut flush and Jaka couldn't fill up when the 10♣ landed on the river.
Kyungkeun Lee raised from the small blind to 8,100, and Igor Popyk called from the big blind. The flop was 2♦A♥5♣, and Lee continued with 11,000, while Popyk called.
Both players checked the rest of the hand through with 9♥ on the turn and 9♣ on the river.
Lee announced, "I have an ace," and flipped over A♦4♦, while Popyk mucked.
Conor O'Rourke opened to 7,000 from the hijack. Faraz Jaka made the call out of the cutoff before Stephen Song opted to three-bet all-in for 45,000. O'Rourke had had enough and made the fold, but Jaka stuck around with a call to put Song at risk.
Stephen Song: A♠Q♦
Faraz Jaka: 6♠6♦
Song needed to improve, and the flop gave him more pathways to a double up when it came K♠8♦8♠ to give him counterfeit outs.
The 2♣ was a total blank, but the river allowed Song to stay in contention when it came the A♥ to improve him to aces up and score the double up.
Yukako Hiroi raised to 6,000 from under the gun and Upeshka De Silva defended in the big blind.
The flop came 2♦9♥6♠ and De Silva check-called a bet of 3,000, brining the J♦ turn, where both players checked.
On the A♠ river, De Silva checked again and Hiroi sized up with a bet of 20,000, prompting De Silva to give up his hand.
Gurdial Sandhu limped from under the gun, and Jimmy Guerrero raised to 10,000 from the cutoff.
Action folded around back to Sandhu, who queried, "How many chips do you have?"
Guerrero spread his chips. Sandhu called. Both players checked through the turn on the board of 10♣10♠6♦A♣.
On the river Q♠, Sandhu took a shot and bet 13,000, and Guerrero called.
Sandhu showed 8♦8♣ for two pair, and Guerrero showed Q♣J♥ for the better two pair.
Vladimir Minko raised to 6,000 in the hijack and Colin Robinson defended in the big blind.
The flop came 5♥8♦4♥ and Robinson led out for 4,000. Minko thought for a moment before moving all in to put Robinson at risk, who had 41,000 back. Robinson quickly called.
Colin Robinson: 9♥8♥
Vladimir Minko: K♦Q♦
The board ran out 8♣, 5♦, with Robinson improving to a full house by the river to earn the double up.
Joseph Cheong and Terrance Reid were in the tournament on fresh stacks, and it was short-lived as Cheong got it in from the hijack, while Reid shipped it from the cutoff. Or Nezer called both to put his opponents at risk as they went to a three-handed showdown.
Joseph Cheong: Q♠J♦
Terrance Reid: A♣K♥
Or Nezer: A♠A♦
Nezer picked a great time to get aces as he had both Cheong and Reid on the ropes with five cards to go.
Reid and Cheong picked up some hope on the 9♥K♣2♦ flop as Reid could hit an additional king and Cheong picked up a gutter.
The 2♥ turn was a blank as Nezer's aces stayed in front.
Reid and Cheong would be eliminated on the J♠ river as Nezer scored the double knockout with aces as he joyously scooped in the chips.
