Noam Folds Flush

Level 7 : 400/800, 0 ante

Danny Noam was in the big blind, facing off against Anton Bertilsson on the button. The action was on the turn, with {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} on the board. Noam checked, and Bertilsson bet 12,500.

Noam went into deep thought, counting his remaining stack. Then he lifted his cards in the air. He peeked at them one more time, but the action was evident; he was going to fold.

Eventually, Noam picked two of his cards and threw them onto the felt face-up. They were {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a jack-high flush and a redraw to a straight flush.

Noam, however, apparently believed that Bertilsson held a better flush and made a huge laydown.

The cards were being swept up by the dealer and yet another pot was being pushed to Randal Brown. Mike Matusow was gathering up his belongings and looking a bit down in the mouth having just been felted by Brown.

Matusow has been projecting a lot of positivity this year at the WSOP, predicting great results for himself, particularly in the Main Event that starts Saturday, July 8.

This wasn’t his day, though, as a late registration led to an early exit.

With the {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} on the board, Yevgeniy Timoshenko faced a 5,500 bet from a player in the big blind. Timoshenko was in the hijack and he pulled out a raise, bumping it to 20,000.

While the big blind didn't muck instantly, he eventually laid down, leaving the pot going Timoshenko's way.

The flop was {7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Vivian Saliba in the big blind checked it to Scott Bohlman who bet 1,500.

Saliba check-raised to 4,000 and Bohlman studied his hole cards to see if there was much there for him. There wasn’t, so he folded.

“You gave me another one,” Saliba said to the dealer, twirling the {a-Diamonds}.

Saliba then laid out her complete hand of {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Hearts}.

“I’m sorry you didn’t have anything,” she said of Bohlman’s fold.

“You had it all. What could I have?” Bohlman replied.

Harder Is the Captain

Level 6 : 300/600, 0 ante

There are several players closing on 200,000 in chips but no one seems to be closer than Christian Harder, who's playing about 195,000 at the moment.
