Huang Sends Fu Packing

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Michael Fu (centre) getting aces cracked
Michael Fu (centre) getting aces cracked

Getting aces cracked is never all that fun, but Michael Fu took it remarkably well, shaking opponent Vincent Huang's hand before heading for the exit.

All the chips went in pre-flop, a short-stacked Fu moving in with {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and getting looked up by Huang holding {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}.

The {8-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} runout was not the one Fu wanted, stacking Huang up to 65,000 and thinning the field by one.

Kambouroglou Triples Up

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The player under the gun raised to 4,200 before Tony Kambouroglou moved all in for his last 17,700 from the hijack. The player in the small blind moved all-in for 15,300. The original raiser called.

Kambouroglou: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Original Raiser: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Small Blind: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{a-Hearts}, awarding Kambouroglou the pot, after he improved to a higher pair on the flop.

Attenborough Bests Argyros

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Adrian Attenborough raised to 3,200 from middle position and was called by Billy Argyros in the big blind.

Argyros checked dark before the flop fell {4-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{6-Hearts}.

"One big blind," announced Attenborough, before placing out 1,600. Argyros called.

The turn brought the {2-Spades} and Argyros checked again. Attenborough tossed out 8,000. Argyros deliberated for a minute before opting to muck his hand.

Attenborough allowed Argyros to pick one card to see before the {j-Diamonds} was exposed.

Bownds Busts Kempson

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Corey Kempson
Corey Kempson

Both Corey Kempson and Robert Damelian have re-entered, but in the former's case it was not for that long with Kempson departing towards the close of the level.

Kempson had lost close to half of his 25k starting stack before the hand in question, dropping some in a three-way pot against Luke Edwards and another player, with Edwards (early position) taking down the ~10,000 pot on the river on a board of {5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} with a bet of 4,200, folding out both Kempson (big blind) and the player on the button.

An orbit or so later and Kempson was out for the second time in as many levels. It was Ryan Bownd's the man wielding the executioner's axe with an early position open to 3,200. Kempson called from the button and after small blind James Obst folded, big blind Luke Edwards made the call to take the action three-way to a flop of {9-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{j-Spades}.

Following checks from Edwards and pre-flop raiser Bownds, Kempson moved all-in for a little over 11,000. Edwards folded quickly, but Bownds was going nowhere, tanking for a few seconds before electing to call.

Ryan Bownds: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Corey Kempson: {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

While Kempson was drawing live, the {a-Hearts} turn left him needing to hit one of the decks four remaining tens, but the {j-Hearts} river was of no help and he headed for the rail once more, while Bownds stacked up to 105,000.

Robertson Eliminated by White

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Andrew White opened with a raise from middle position before Peter Robertson moved all-in with his short stack from the cutoff. The action folded back around to White who made the call.

White: {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Robertson: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board ran out {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{8-Spades}{j-Spades}, resulting in White spiking a jack on the river, awarding him the pot with trip jacks.

Vijayaram Hits the Rail

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

The action folded around to Shurane Vijayaram in the cutoff who moved all in for his remaining 13,000. The player on the button then re-raised to 45,000 which was enough to see the blinds muck their hands.

Opponnet: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Vijayaram: {k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

Vijayaram was unable to improve on the {9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts} board before ultimately hitting the rail midway through the day's proceedings.

Blatt Rails Damelian

Level 8 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Dean Blatt
Dean Blatt

While Robert Damelian enjoyed a decent start to the tournament he has been on a downward spiral as of late, with Dean Blatt administering the coup de grace shortly after the start of the new level.

Blatt was the man initially driving the action with a raise from the cutoff, with a short-stacked Damelian moving all-in from the big blind. Blatt made the call and the players revealed their hole cards.

Robert Damelian: {8-Spades}{4-Spades}
Dean Blatt: {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}

The {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop gave Damelian a gutshot straight draw and Blatt middle set. Unfortunately for Damelian the {4-Diamonds} turn and {q-Spades} river were not enough to keep his tournament hopes alive and he headed for the exit, while Blatt stacked up to 80,000.

Kempson Out, Billy 'the croc' Argyros In

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Corey Kempson is out for the time being, though with registration remaining open for a little over another two hours, he still has time to come back in for another go should he choose.

Despite doubling up to just under 20,000 when his pre-flop shove with {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts} held against a tablemates' {q-}{j-}, Kempson hit the rail an orbit or so later, falling at the hands of Ehsan Amiri after the duo tangled in a hand.

It was Amiri the man driving the action with a pre-flop open from early position for 2,400 with Kempson (big blind) the only caller.

After a Kempson check, Amiri led for 4,000 on the {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop and was called, with the dealer burning and turning the {10-Spades}. This saw Kempson lead for a tickly 3,000 and after some time mulling it over, Amiri opted to just call.

The {5-Spades} river completed the hand and saw Kempson move all-in for his remaining chips, with Amiri calling immediately. Kempson rolled over {j-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a missed draw and the speed of Amiri's call became apparent when he turned over {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for a flopped set and turned full house. Kempson headed for the rail, while Amiri stacked up to 95,000.

Billy 'the croc' Argyros is a recent entry to the field, and looks to have been busy, running up his stack to 47,000. Argyros is joined at his table by the recently re-entered Edward Kim, who has spun his second bullet up from 25k to 39,000. Other notables still with chips are as follows:
