Swede Dreams

Alexander Roumeliotis had been the short stack for a while and pushing, but he's finally just been caught by JC Alvarado.

Roumeliotis pushed for just over 100,000 from late position and Alvarado snap-called in the big blind.

Roumeliotis: {A-Spades}{4-Hearts}
Alvarado: {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Flop: {K-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}

"Hmm?" came the sound from the Swede.

Turn: {K-Hearts}

"Hmmmmm."

River: {K-Clubs}

"Hmph."

We've got 17 players left.

Thorel Doubles

Joao Vieira raised from the button to 12,000 and Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel reraised to 31,000 from the small blind. In the big blind was Jean Noel Thorel and he reraised all in for 195,000. After Vieira folded, Duhamel went into the tank. He eventually made the call holding the {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, but was behind the {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for Thorel. The flop, turn and river came {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} to give Thorel the double up.

Adams Out of the Family

After Tobias Reinkemeier raised on the button, Timothy Adams reraised all in for 144,000 from the big blind. Reinkemeier called holding the {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and was up against the {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for Adams.

Adams was at risk and fell behind on the {K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop to Reinkemeier's pair of kings. The turn was the {10-Clubs} and river the {9-Hearts}, finishing off Adams and bringing the field down to 18 players.

Two Doubles

In a level we thought we'd lose several players, we've only had a single casualty so far (Jason Mercier).

Kristijonas Andrulis raised to 12,000 then shoved over the top of Joao Vieira's reraise to 32,000, only to be called fairly quickly.

Andrulis flipped {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} to Vieira's {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and got up to leave, putting his bag on and he was on his way until the river of a {6-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} board.

Meanwhile Max Greenwood just won a flip against Igor Kurganov with {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} against {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} on a board that came {A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}.

Two Pair for Polito

Action folded to Alexander Roumeliotis on the button and he raised to 12,000. Laurent Polito three-bet to 35,000 from the big blind and Roumeliotis called.

The flop came down {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Polito fired 40,000. Roumeliotis made the call to see the {Q-Hearts} land on the turn and Polito checked. Roumeliotis checked behind.

The river was the {J-Clubs} and Polito bet 55,000. Roumeliotis called, but mucked after Polito tabled the {K-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} for two pair.

Kurganov Doubled with Queens

Igor Kurganov limped in before Jean Noel Thorel raised to 17,000. Action folded back to Kurganov and he moved all in for 122,000. Thorel called with the {A-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and Kurganov held the {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.

The board ran out {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{J-Spades} and Kurganov doubled.

Mercier Eliminated

Jason Mercier on Day 1 of the Main Event.
Jason Mercier on Day 1 of the Main Event.

Having just lost a sizeable pot to Tobias Reinkemeier, Jason Mercier just lost a flip at the most crucial moment.

Andrew Lichtenberger raised to 15,000 from the cutoff and Mercier made it 37,000 on the button. Lichtenberger then four-bet to 62,000 and Mercier moved all in. Call.

Lichtenberger: {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Mercier: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

The flop could barely have been better for Lichtenberger coming {K-Spades}{A-Clubs}{5-Spades}, the {5-Diamonds} turn restored Mercier to two outs but the {2-Hearts} wasn't one of them.

19 remain.
