De-Seived

Scott Seiver in the High Roller
Scott Seiver in the High Roller

Joao Vieira opened preflop to 8,000 from the button and Scott Seiver defended in the big blind.

The flop came down {Q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{J-Spades} and Seiver check-raised Vieira's 13,000 continuation bet to 43,000. The Portuguese player made the call to see the {10-Diamonds} on the turn. Seiver now bet 36,000 and again Vieira made the call as the pot began to swell.

The river was the {8-Clubs}, putting four to a straight on the board but Seiver continued his aggression, betting 80,000. Vieira tanked for several minutes before he eventually made the call.

Seiver flipped {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} but he could only bow and shake his head as Vieira turned over {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a rivered straight.

Former EPT Tallinn champion, Ronny Kaiser, has also been eliminated.

Duhamel Takes the Chip Lead

Igor Kurganov raised to 8,000 from the cutoff seat and Jonathan Duhamel reraised to 20,500 from the small blind. Kurganov called and the flop came down {Q-Spades}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}. Duhamel bet 23,500 and Kurganov folded his hand. With this pot, Duhamel has climbed over the 400,000-chip mark and into the chip lead.

With all of the hoopla surrounding the year Dan Smith is having, one can't forget about all that Duhamel has done on the felt in 2012. Coming into this event, Duhamel has earned over $1.4 million in this year and moved himself over the $11 million mark for lifetime tournament earnings. So what exactly has he done in 2012? Below are some of the highlights.

  • PCA $100,000 Super High Roller: 4th place — $313,600

Queens for Duhamel

After Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel opened with a raise, Steven Silverman reraised to 23,000. Duhamel then four-bet to 47,500 and Silverman made the call to see a flop.

The dealer ran out the {K-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and both players checked to see the {10-Spades} land on the turn. Duhamel checked and Silverman bet 32,000. Duhamel called.

The river card was the {8-Clubs} and both players checked.

Silverman showed the {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a pair of tens, but that wasn't good against the {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} for Duhamel.
