Thorel Busts with no Equity; Reenters

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Earlier today, Dominik Nitsche had tweeted that Jean-Noel Thorel was on tilt on his table and that very much just showed. The Frenchman check-raised all in after the {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{K-Spades} turn for 31,700 and Sergey Lebedev called after having bet 10,000.

Thorel: {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}
Lebedev: {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

The Frenchman was drawing dead and the meaningless {J-Hearts} appeared on the river, however Thorel immediately purchased a reentry to get back in.

MacPhee's Aces not Cracked

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Kevin MacPhee and Kelvin Kerber got into a raising war with the former at risk for starting stack with pocket aces. Kerber had pocket kings and spiked a king on the flop, but MacPhee made a runner runner straight to regain the lead and double up.

Emil Ekvardt was less fortunate. In a battle of the blinds, he walked into the trap of Rafael Da Silva Moraes on a board of {J-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Ekvardt had the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} while Moraes had flopped a full house with {J-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

Johnson Eliminates Bilic

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Alen Bilic raised to 2,500 under the gun and Gregory Goldberg called in the small blind, before Keith Johnson three-bet to 7,600. Bilic moved all-in, Goldberg folded, and Johnson called.

Johnson: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Bilic: {j-Spades}{j-Hearts}

Bilic sighed as he saw he was dominated, and the board ran out {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts} to eliminate him late on Day 1.

Some Recovery for Gieles

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Alen Bilic gave up the river of a board {Q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} against Luis Rodriguez Cruz and his opponent showed the {A-Spades}{9-Spades} to see Bilic drop back to starting stack.

Luuk Gieles turned trips and Andre Akkari then check-called a bet of 18,600 on the {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} river to muck when shown {J-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Coulier Coolers Buddiga

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

"It was a standard hand," Arne Coulier said after coming over to have a chat with fellow Belgian Davidi Kitai. The seat next to Coulier was empty and that previously belonged to Pratyush Buddiga. According to Coulier, he called the five-bet shove of Buddiga with {A-}{K-} and won the flip versus pocket queens thanks to a king on the turn.

Ivan Luca busted on his second bullet as well while Kevin MacPhee busted and reentered.

Last Break!

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The players have been sent into a 20-minute break and that is the last time they are getting away from the tables. Two more levels will be played once they return before bagging and tagging.

Tuna Loses Some; Zeiter Out

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Raffaele Carnevale faced a bet of 16,500 on the {10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} river and didn't have much more than that behind. His opponent was Akin Tuna and the Turk was eventually called to reveal the {A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}, Carnevale flashed {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for ace-high with the better kicker.

For Diego Zeiter, the time ran out. He previously doubled up his short stack against Kevin MacPhee and then got it in with pocket eights on a flop {J-}{9-}{8-}. Jacob Bazeley called with pocket tens and spiked a seven on the turn.

Aggressive Charlie Carrel

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

€10,000 Single Day High Roller Champion and €25,000 High Roller third place finisher Charlie Carrel is keeping the aggression up in yet another High Roller. In this hand Mohsin Charania opened to 2,500 from early position and was three-bet by Bryn Kenney. With both players holding roughly 20 big blinds behind, Charlie Carrel decided the best course of action was to four-bet all-in and he did so, forcing folds from both Charania and Kenney.
