Belken Rips in Battle of the Blinds

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

A player limped in from the small blind, and former HPT River City champ Paul Belken raised to 2,500 from the big blind. The small blind called.

The {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop was checked by the small blind, and Belken bet 5,000. The small blind called.

The small blind checked again on the {5-Spades} turn, and Belken jammed for 29,800. The small blind tanked for a minute, then folded.

Oh My Darland, Clementine

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Jason Darland
Jason Darland

An early position player opened to 2,000 and was called by four: a player in middle position, the hijack, Anthony Dalpra in the cutoff, and Jason Darland in the big blind.

Action checked to Dalpra on the {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop, and he bet 3,500. Only Darland held onto his cards in exchange for the call.

The {j-Hearts} turn paired the board and went check-check.

Darland led for 6,500 on the river, and Dalpra took a minute before ultimately matching it. Darland tabled {j-Spades}{8-Clubs} for turned trips and raked the pot.

Charlie Dawson Captures Third Title of the Series in Event #8: $300 PLO/Big O

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Charlie Dawson PLO win

For the past week, the Heartland Poker Tour has been hosting a slew of side events here at the Hollywood Casino St. Louis.

Fans of the great game of Omaha got a treat in the form of Event #8: $300 PLO/Big O, played in a round by round format that saw players switch between four-card Omaha and Big O, which is five-card Omaha Hi-Lo, for those that have never heard of the game. 74 players generated a $18,870 prize pool, and the final nine players all took home a portion of the prize pool.

Charlie Dawson, who had already taken down Event #4: 7-Game Mix as well as Event #6: $400 Tag Team got his hands on a third Championship Belt after taking the lion's share of a five-way deal at the final table, capping off an impressive run in the preliminary events for the HPT Season XV Championship Series.

Pupillo Takes From Hawkins

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Maurice Hawkins checked an {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{9-Clubs} board over to Nick Pupillo, who bet 3,400 into a 6,000 chip pot. Hawkins called.

Hawkins checked again after the {j-Spades} hit the river, and Pupillo bet 8,000. Hawkins mulled it over, then folded.

Heine Hellmuth's His Way to a Double

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Keith Heine
Keith Heine

Keith Heine raised to 1,800 from under the gun, and the button called. Austin Tjaden three-bet to 6,200 from the small blind, and both Heine and the button called.

Tjaden checked the {4-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} flop to Heine, who bet 5,500. The button folded, and Tjaden check-raised all in. Heine instantly shoved his remaining 43,500 in chips forward, with good reason.

Keith Heine: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Austin Tjaden: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Heine flopped top set, but still had to fade the nut flush draw of Tjaden. Heine locked up the hand on the {4-Spades} turn, and after the {6-Diamonds} river, he responded to a fellow player's comment that his call was "Hellmuthian in nature" by saying, "I haven't had a hand like that all week!"

Joseph Flops Nut Flush Draw with Turner at Risk

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Following a cutoff open to 2,000 and a call on the button by Johanssy Joseph, Joshua Turner ripped it in from the small blind. The cutoff asked for a count, which amounted to 23,100, before making the laydown. Joseph, however, shook his head, smiled, said something inaudible to Turner, and tossed in the call.

Joshua Turner: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Johanssy Joseph: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}

Although dominated, Joseph's club was live, and the flop brought three of them: {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

The {q-Diamonds} gave Turner an unwanted pair, adding gutshot outs for Joseph. The {3-Clubs} river completed Joseph's nut flush draw, and Turner tapped the table and vacated his seat.

Song Makes the Right Call to Bust Nussrallah

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Stephen Nussrallah
Stephen Nussrallah

A pot of 20,000 was already built up when Stephen Song checked a {7-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts} board from middle position, and Stephen Nussrallah double-fisted in his last 15,300 in chips from the button.

Song went into the tank for three minutes before slamming in chips to call, tabling {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts} as he did. Nussrallah mucked his hand, and the dealer showed {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} before sending the pot over to Song.

End Isn't Nigh for Anderson

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

James Anderson opened to 3,000 in the hijack over an early-position limp. Action folded to Peter Nigh, who called in the small blind, as did the early-position limper.

A dry flop of {j-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} hit the felt, and Anderson continued for 4,200 when checked to. Both players quickly called.

After Nigh and the player in early position checked the {9-Hearts} turn, Anderson looked at the dealer and declared, "I'm all in."

Nigh quickly mucked, but the player in early position asked for a count—35,300—and took several minutes before eventually doing the same, throwing his cards into the deck with visible frustration.

Monahan Tangles With Reichard Again

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

There was already 7,000 in the middle when Joseph Monahan bet 5,000 from under the gun, and Josh Reichard made the call.

The {a-Diamonds} fell on the turn, and Monahan bet 12,000, leaving himself 29,100 behind. Reichard tanked for a minute before folding, but Reichard still maintains the chip lead at the moment in defense of his title.
