Some of the world’s best poker players will flock to Merit Royal Diamond for the Onyx High Roller Series, with more than $10 million in guarantees on the line across No-Limit Hold’em and Pot-Limit Omaha events.
With the series expected to attract elite and fun player fields, Onyx has also outlined a clear set of tournament conditions ahead of time. One of those is a restriction on face coverings. When players have live cards during a hand, sunglasses, masks, scarves, and any intentional covering of the face will not be permitted.
It is one of several tournament rules confirmed ahead of a packed nine-day schedule that runs from August 7-16.
Three ways to the turn on a board of 5♥2♠A♠4♥, Pavel Shchitnikov was first to act from the big blind and decided to fire for 5,000. Paul Esau folded from early position, while Mustafa Ercan called in the cutoff.
The 5♣ completed the board, and Shchitnikov tossed out a bet of 12,800. Ercan quickly folded, relinquishing the pot to Shchitnikov.
With 21,000 already in the pot on a flop of 3♣Q♣6♣, Joris Ruijs checked from middle position, and Manig Loeser bet 4,000 from the hijack. Ruijs called.
The 2♠ turn went check-check before the 3♦ rolled off on the river. Ruijs bet 8,500, and Loeser quickly called.
Ruijs showed Q♦J♦ for top pair, but it was second best to the K♦Q♠ of Loeser, who held the same pair with a better kicker.

Alexander Lakhov raised to 1,300 from under the gun, with Nejat Erman and Hadi Khordbin calling from the next two seats. Cagdas Ersoy then three-bet to 4,300 from the cutoff, which was called by Boris Smuskevicius in the small blind, as well as Lakhov, Erman, and Khordbin.
Five players went to the A♦A♥5♥ flop, where Smuskevicius checked. Lakhov fired a small bet of 2,000, and only Ersoy and Smuskevicius called.
The K♥ turn was checked to Ersoy, and he bet 7,000. Smuskevicius quickly folded, but Lakhov took a few moments before doing the same, using his rabbit card to look at the river and showing the A♠ for trip aces.
Ersoy pulled in the pot as the dealer revealed the river would have been the Q♦.
Xiaosheng Zheng raised to 1,300 from early position, and Mustafa Ercan called on the button. Artem Voronovsky squeezed to 5,000 from the small blind, with Zheng and Ercan both calling.
Voronovsky continued for 6,500 on the K♦2♥6♥ flop, and only Ercan called.
A second barrel of 18,000 came from Voronovsky when the 7♦ hit the turn. Again, Ercan called.
Voronovsky then fired a final barrel of 16,000 on the board-pairing 6♣ river, and Ercan quickly called.
Voronovsky immediately mucked his cards, allowing Ercan to drag in the pot without having to show.
Timur Margolin raised to 1,300 from under the gun, and Tim Gerwig called from the next seat. Yurii Zabrodotskyi then three-bet to 6,000 from middle position, and only Margolin called.
Margolin check-called a bet of 4,500 from Zabrodotskyi on the Q♣5♥Q♦ flop, and then did so again on the Q♥ turn, this time for 7,000.
Both players checked the 3♥ river, and Margolin took down the pot with A♣K♠ for ace-high.
