Big Flip Goes "shuriken555's" Way

The action was kicked off by "shuriken555" who raised to 16,000 from early position. Lari "Operga" Sihvo made it 42,000 to go from the button, getting the blinds to release. A four-bet to 88,000 came from "shuriken555", leading to Sihvo five-bet shoving with the bigger stack.

An all-in call for 439,377 was "shuriken555's" next play with {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}, racing with Sihvo's {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. The board rolled out {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, delivering a huge blow to Sihvo while "shuriken555" won the hefty pot.

Stern Takes Chip Lead

Dani Stern is your new chip leader
Dani Stern is your new chip leader

We're finding it difficult to take our eyes away from Table 51. Especially after Dani "supernova9" Stern took the overall chip lead with over 1 million chips at the end of the previous level.

Stern, who's joined at the table by Eugene Katchalov, David "Gunslinger3" Bach and Luke "lb6121" Schwartz, opened with a raise to 14,000 from under the gun and "tonkaaaa" three-bet to 29,997. Action folded back to Stern who called to see a flop of {Q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Stern check-called a bet of 32,229 and the turn brought the {7-Hearts}. Stern check-called again, this time for 75,666, and the {K-Clubs} landed on the river. Again Stern checked and tonkaaaa fired 213,336. Stern made the call with {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} for a pair of queens and successfully picked off the bluff of the former chip leader, who had {9-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

With that pot, Stern became the first player to hit seven-figures.

Lodden tabled {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}, but was unable to hold as the board ran out {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

Updated Chip Counts

Steve "gboro780" Gross Loses Costly Flip

Steve "gboro780" Gross will have to wait another year to capture his second WCOOP bracelet. Gross, who won the $300 HORSE event on Sept. 18, was just eliminated from the Main Event when his {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades} failed to hold up against the {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} of "frshman067." The Jersey native was sixth on the WCOOP leaderboard entering the day but will fall short of Player of the Year honors.

A Few of the Top Chip Counts
