Stempien Out; Block Closes in on Two Milly; Dinner!

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
John Stempien
John Stempien

John Stempien made it 50,000 from the cutoff and Rick Block bumped it to 100,000 from the button.

Stempien called and the flop came down {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Stempien checked and Block bet 65,000. Stempien called and the turn came the {J-Hearts}. Stempien checked again, but then shoved when Block bet 85,000.

Block snap-called with {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} and it was a massive karma induced set-over-set cooler as Stempien held {7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. The river was the {8-Clubs}, Stempien busted, Block increased his massive lead with close to a quarter of the chips in play and the final 12 players headed off on a 45-minute dinner break.

Play will resume at 6:45 p.m. local time.

Charles Johnson
Charles Johnson

John Stempien shoved the big blind facing a Charles Johnson Jr raise. Johnson snapped him off with {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} and Stempien sheepishly showed {3-Clubs}{5-Spades}.

However, the {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{A-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} run out made Stempien two pair to crack Johnson's kings and leave him short. He was out a hand later.

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Blake Napierala made it 50,000 from the button, Prateek Sachedo shoved the small blind and after Andy Spears dumped the big, Napierala made the call with {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

Sachedo held {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and needed help, but got none from the {q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} board.

Rivera Ruined

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Alex Rivera had a wild ride the last level, getting aces twice but only winning once. Eventually, he shoved all in with {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and got the call from Geoffrey Ferenc and his equal sized stack on {K-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

The board rolled out {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} with Ferenc making a boat. Left with just 6,000 in chips, Rivera was all in and out a hand later.

Rivera Doubles

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Alex Rivera gets it all in with {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} versus Ray Williams' {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} and is headed for the exits after a {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} board rolls out to the turn.

However, the {q-Clubs} river saves his day and he doubles through Williams to leave him among the shorter stacks.
