Karrim Back in Action

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Ahmed Karrim
Ahmed Karrim

Ahmed Karrim endured a roller coaster ride on Day 1b and didn't make it through, and the same also applied for Stephen Courtney. The latter is among the current big stacks and both can be found right in front of the live stream table as Karrim entered half an hour ago.

Courtney opened to 3,000 and Paul Mantzios called on the button. Karrim jammed for 27,100 in the big blind and Courtney asked for a count to then fold. Mantzios used one time bank and let go, too.

"If he is not in the hand, I am one hundred percent calling," Courtney added and Karrim replied "What did you have? Ace ten?"

Courtney shook his head and replied "decent pocket pair".

It's All About SM Right Now

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Marriette Language
Marriette Language

SM raised to 2,400 and Maverick Zackey called on the button, as did the big blind. On a K86 flop, the big blind check-folded when SM bet 5,000 and Zackey called. They headed to the 9 turn on which SM bet another 25,000 and Zackey called after using one time bank.

That led to the 4 river on which SM jammed. Zackey quickly called and was shown the AA.

"That's fucked up, " Maverick gritted as he briefly flashed the cards to the table and departed.

One hand later, SM raised the very same amount and Vishal Ghoorbin called one seat over. One further player came along before Marriette Language got her last 6,000 in out of the big blind without checking at her cards. SM reraised to 20,000 and isolated successfully.

SM tabled his KQ and Language joked "is that all?" before she turned over her cards: 43! "Oh, I have a chance," she joked.

Neither player connected with the A86J6 board and SM scored the second knockout in a row.

Ronit Chamani

Paul Shadiack once more collected a pot without showdown and up next. Ronit Chamani raised for Gareth Kalil to defend the big blind. They checked the 984 flop and Kalil check-folded the A turn when Chamani bet 2,500.

Shadiack inquired why Chamani was so quiet at the table and she replied "I lost my talking partner" as Joe Rahme was no longer in the nine seat.

Assorted Counts in the Field

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Third Time a Charm for Taliwanth?

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Vishal Ghoorbin looked up the preflop all-in of Cliton Taliwanth as they were flipping with the third entry of Taliwanth at risk.

Cliton Taliwanth: AK
Vishal Ghoorbin: JJ

The overcard came right away on the AQ8 flop and Taliwanth retained his lead throughout the Q turn as well as the 5 river.

"I finally won a flip ... third entry," he grinned with a smirk on the face.

Singh Finally Gets a Solid Stack

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Sugen Singh
Sugen Singh

Sugen Singh found no fortune on either of the previous two starting days but he finally ran up a stack now when he earned a decent pot in showdown. On the heads-up river of J54Q6, Singh called a bet worth 22,500 and his opponent shrugged before showing the 43 for bottom pair only.

Singh had that beat with the 109 for a flush and leaped to six figures.

Keshav Among the Bigger Stacks

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Menesh Keshav
Menesh Keshav

Menesh Keshav earned his biggest live score during the 2023 World Series of Poker Main Event when he finished in 404th place for $40,000 one year ago in Las Vegas. To surpass this pay day, he would have to win the Main Event here and that pursuit as he sent Muzey Gothey to the rail.

On a queen-high board, the king-queen of Gothey were no good as Keshav had AA for the overpair. Gothey re-entered, as did former big stack Alexi Alexandrou.

Courtney Bounces Back With a Big Pot

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Nahum Lum
Nahum Lum

Four ways to the 765 flop, Nahum Lum was all-in for a short stack of around 11,000 and Stephen Courtney raised to 28,000. Paul Mantzios called and Damon Fine folded. The A on the turn was checked by the two active players and the 4 river brought a four-card straight on the board as well.

Courtney now bet 35,000 and Mantzios asked for the bet sizing before declaring "call".

Courtney tabled K10 for the nut flush and Mantzios mucked QQ, Lum was eliminated with the J8.

"I folded tens," Fine mentioned in the table chat.

"SM" Leads the Way for Now

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The previous three levels, table 17 was on the live stream and "SM", known for his extremely aggressive playing style, significantly boosted his stack. Graham Savings was among the victims and vanished while Cliton Taliwanth and Greg Tucker re-entered after the break to get on this very table which can now be found back in the main tournament area.
