Beat Slows Kalas

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Kane Kalas checked out of the big blind on a {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop, and Alex Greenblatt checked under the gun. Zach Martin bet about 13,000 from middle position, and only Kalas called. He then checked the {2-Spades} turn and snap-called when Martin shoved 20,400.

Martin: {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Kalas: {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

"Good hand," Martin said resignedly, awaiting a river on which he needed a nine or a six.

The river did bring the {9-Diamonds} to enable him to survive.

Clint Tolbert Chips Up in Back-to-Back Hands

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Clint Tolbert
Clint Tolbert

Clint Tolbert opened to 4,400 from under the gun, three players called, including Brant Hale and Jonathan Bloyen, and the flop came {7-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}. Action checked to Tolbert, he bet 6,200 and his three opponents all reluctantly folded.

The next hand saw him and an unknown opponent build a 40,000-chip pot going to the turn on a {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop. The turn came {Q-Spades}, Tolbert moved all in for around 40,000. His opponent mucked and Tolbert significantly improved his stack in short order.

Players are on break for 15 minutes.

One Out Finds the Flop

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Adam Krach
Adam Krach

We found three players all in with the cards on their backs.

Adam Krach: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Aaron Massey: {a-}{q-}
Third player: {a-}{a-}

As Krach told it, Massey had jammed his last 20,000 or so and been called by the player with aces early, and then Krach shoved from the big blind with queens. Just one queen remained in the deck, but it emerged right away on the {4-Spades}{q-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop. The turn and river were {4-Diamonds} then {10-Hearts}, and Krach had Massey and the other player, who had about 75,000, covered.

"The Brant Hale"

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We found Brant Hale all in from the small blind on a board of {k-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{q-Spades}. An opponent in early position had bet 10,000 and Hale was all in to put his opponent at risk for about 67,000. That player decided to call with {q-}{q-} but his set was no good as Hale had binked a straight with {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}. The river was a brick: {3-Spades}.

"The Brant Hale ladies and gentlemen," Clint Tolbert said.

Greg Jennings Riding an Up & Down Day

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Greg Jenning's day has been anything but smooth. He got short-stacked a few levels ago and was grinding a sub-20,000 stack. We recently caught him where John Merchant opened to 1,600 and Jennings three-bet to 5,800. Merchant called, the flop came {K-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} and Jennings quickly put in all his 5,000 chips. Merchant mucked and Jennings have over twice the starting stack.
