2025 World Series of Poker
Chance Kornuth has already fallen down to around 12,000 early in his Main Event, while Mason "Uncle Ron" Hinkle (wearing a yellow shirt that reads "If my nipples are hard, I don't have jacks") is on an extreme short stack.
Alex Foxen and Dan Sepiol, meanwhile, have just started their Main Event in the Paris Black section.
The actions was picked up on a board of 7♣A♠8♦4♣ with 8,200 in the pot. Aliaksandr Hirs in the big blind bet 8,000, and Yuchen Chen in early position made the call.
The Q♥ river completed the board and Hirs checked. Chen went into the tank and bet 13,000 to make Hirs fold.
There was a loud celebration in the Horseshoe Blue section and when the live reporting team arrived, With some 15,000 chips in the middle to the J♣9♠3♣Q♥ turn, Kyle Bowker clashed with Brian Leblanc and his K♣10♣ had flopped the flush draw and turned the nut straight.
Leblanc was involved with Q♠Q♦ for the nut straight and the reason for his very vivid outburst was the 9♥ on the river which paired the board and knocked out Bowker in the second level of the day.
Sylwia Studniarz made it 700 to go from the cutoff and Benjamin Teston three-bet to 2,100 from the big blind. Studniarz stuck around with a call.
The flop came down A♠8♣Q♥ and Teston continued with a bet of 2,000. Studniarz called again.
Teston bet 4,000 on the 5♥ turn, and was met by a raise to 11,000 from Studniarz. This time, Teston called.
After Teston checked the 5♠ river, Studniarz jammed for his remaining 30,000. Teston went into the tank and began to stack up his chips like he was going to call, but in the end, decided against it and folded.
Leonard August had opened from the hijack, and Sean Legendre had defended his big blind when the A♦5♣Q♠ flop was spread. Legendre checked to August, who placed a continuation-bet of 600.
Legendre called and check-called the 6♥ turn as well, where August upped the ante to 1,300. Legendre had to ask change for his T-25,000 chip to call the bet. "The dreaded moment, breaking the big chip," he stated.
The 8♥ river then checked to showdown. Legendre showed A♣10♦ for top pair, and August sent his cards into the muck.
With about 40,000 already in the pot and the board showing 8♣5♥3♠Q♣4♠, Ichiro Izutsu checked from the big blind over to Martin Finger in the cutoff. Finger moved all in for around 46,800, applying maximum pressure and putting Izutsu’s tournament life at risk.
Izutsu went deep into the tank, weighing his options, but in the end, he decided to fold, sending the sizable pot over to Finger without a showdown.
Heads-up on a board of J♣5♣Q♥Q♠, Victor Paredes bet 2,000 from early position and Rene Nezhoda called in the big blind.
The river was the 2♠ and Paredes bet another 4,500. Nezhoda quickly called and Paredes showed K♥Q♣ for trips.
"Nice turn. I should've repopped you preflop," the Storage Wars star said as he mucked.
Giuseppe Zarbo, who won the $504,180 and his first bracelet in the $800 Summer Celebration at 1 a.m., was in his seat for the first hand of the main event.
"I slept well, but I'm never going to miss the beginning," Zarbo said. "This is exciting."
This is Zarbo's ninth main event, starting with a cash and 235th place finish in 2011.
