Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Bradley Owen
Bradley Owen

Brad Owen raised to 1,000 on the button and called a three-bet from Ahamad Meman, who was in the small blind.

Both players checked on the 37A flop and then Meman led out for 2,000 on the A turn. Owen made it 5,000 to go and Meman quickly called.

The Q completed the board and Meman check-called a 7,000 bet from Owen, who showed AK for trip aces.

Meman mucked and said, "I had a big pair too."

"I believe you," Owen replied as he collected the pot.

Trip Ladies for Gentry

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Tyler Gentry opened to 800 from under the gun and faced a three-bet from Steven Girouard to 2,700 from the hijack.

Gentry called and sent them to a flop of 32Q before he checked. Girouard continued for 1,600 and was called by Gentry.

Both players checked the Q turn and the J river.

Gentry showed KQ for turned trip queens as Girouard tapped the table and discarded his hand.

Quan Quach raised to 1,100 and then called a three-bet to 3,500 by Susan Murphey in the very next seat. Following a Q103 flop, they got the chips into the middle with Quach at risk.

Quan Quach: J9 All in
Susan Murphey: AK

Both players had draws and neither connected with the board yet. Nothing changed on the 3 turn and the 3 river sent Quach out of the tournament.

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Brad Owen raised to 1,000 from early position, with Ahamad Meman calling in the hijack and David Nunez calling on the button.

Owen fired a continuation-bet of 1,500 on the 83Q flop, and only Meman called.

The board-pairing 8 on the turn brought a second barrel from Owen, this time for 4,000. Again, Meman called.

The 10 completed the board, and Owen jammed, covering Meman. Meman quickly called for his stack of 17,400.

Owen tabled KK for an overpair, but it was second best to Meman's A8 for turned trip eights.

In a three-way pot to the AKQ flop with around 7,100 in the middle, Matthew Ahern check-raised to 7,800 against two opponents and Joel Hanson made it 19,000 to go with some 35,000 behind. Ahern then put in another 70,000 on top and Hanson reluctantly called all in.

Joel Hanson: A9 All in
Matthew Ahern: J10

The Q turn and 6 river failed to improve Hanson and he was sent to the rail while Ahern joined the largest stacks in the field in level three.

It never takes long before at least one player is eliminated on Day 1 of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.

Yesterday, a player gambled with ace-king and ran into pocket aces to be eliminated moments after the $10,000 buy-in World Championship event began. Today, pocket rockets sent the first elimination home quickly again.

Wirth Calls Down Brown

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Thomas Wirth opened to 1,000 from the cutoff and Andrii Hrilberh called from the small blind. Laurence Brown defended his big blind and the players went three-ways to the 763 flop.

The blinds checked to Wirth who bet 1,500. Hrilberh folded but Brown called. A 3 turn prompted Brown to bet out 3,000 and Wirth made the call.

The 10 river saw Brown ask for 6,000 and Wirth snap-called. Brown showed KQ for king high and Wirth tabled his set with 43.

More for Mary

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Matthieu Mary raised to 1,000 in early position, which both the small blind and Bradley Spencer in the big blind called.

When the small blind checked on a 10Q10 flop, Spencer opted to lead out with a bet of 2,100. Mary called, but the small blind folded.

Spencer continued for 4,000 on the Q turn, which Mary again called.

The A river saw both players check. Spencer tabled 88, which was no good against the J10 of Mary.

Matusow Starts to Rebuild

Level 3 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante

Mike Matusow raised to 1,000 from early position and called a three-bet of 3,000 from Joseph Querleux, who was directly behind him.

Matusow check-called a 2,000 bet from Querleux on the Q68 flop and then both players checked on the 6 turn.

Matusow took over the initiative with a bet of 3,100 on the Q river and Querleux laid his hand down after a bit of thought.
