Paugam Bets Turn

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Martin Paugam got the action started with a raise to 500 from the hijack. Harold Evans called from the cutoff before Oliver Braddock three-bet to 3,000 from the small blind.

Paugam called, but Evans folded as Paugam and Braddock took a flop together.

The 76Q flop fanned out before Braddock bet 4,000. Paugam called.

Braddock slowed down when the 7 hit the turn. Paugam took the initiative with a bet of 6,000. Braddock bowed out with a fold to award the pot to Paugam.

It never takes long before at least one player is eliminated on Day 1 of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.

Yesterday, a player gambled with ace-king and ran into pocket aces to be eliminated moments after the $10,000 buy-in World Championship event began. Today, pocket rockets sent the first elimination home quickly again.

Glass Wins Without Showdown

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Jonathan Pastore opened to 600 from the hijack before Jay Glass called out of the cutoff, and Atun Topic joined on the button. Stavros Petychakis defended his big blind to create a four-handed pot.

All four checked the 8A9 flop, which led to the 10 turn.

It checked to Glass, who bet 1,500 in response. Topic called, while the rest folded.

The 5 river led to another bet by Glass. This time, he wagered 2,500. Topic was not interested as he folded his hand to award the pot to Glass.

Heads-up on a flop of K102 with a few thousand already in the middle, Kenny Hallaert checked from early position and called a 1,500 bet from Arthur Peacock, who was on the button.

Both players checked on the J turn, but Hallaert fired 5,700 into the middle after the 10 filled the river.

Peacock didn't take long to look up Hallaert, who turned over AQ for a straight. Peacock mucked his cards upon seeing it and Hallaert dragged the pot.

Isaia Among the Early Chip Leaders; Ruivo Adds Chips

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

In the cluster section in front of the main live stream tables, another player in particular has already nearly doubled his stack and that happens to be Italy's Alessio Isaia. Stavros Petychakis was the one to take most of the hit as he sits below one third of the starting stack.

Two other well-known players are on the same table including Jonathan Pastore and Manuel Ruivo. The latter opened and picked up two callers in Jay Glass and Atun Topic. They check-called the K104 flop for 500 before the 8 turn was checked. After the A river, the action checked to Ruivo and he won the pot uncontested with another bet.

McKelvey Pressures on the Flop; Koch Mucks to Pommier

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Players were three-ways on the KJ4 flop with a pot of around 4,000 and Eric Berman bet 2,400 from the big blind. Richard McKelvey raised to 7,200 from the hijack and Brandon Mitchell folded on the button. It took Berman a little longer to make the fold, but he eventually handed McKelvey the pot.

In the next hand on the same table Mitchell opened from the cutoff, and Russell Koch raised to 1,700 from the small blind. Christophe Pommier called from the big blind, as did Mitchell and the players went three-ways to the 9K6 flop.

Koch bet out 3,100 and only Pommier made the call. A 8 turn was checked by both to see the 8 river and Koch checked. Pommier asked for 5,000 and Koch flicked in a chip to call.

Pommier showed KJ for two pair, and Koch was left to muck his hand.

Jeremy Dan
Jeremy Dan

The action was picked up on a 7J2 flop, with 3,000 in the pot.

Jeremy Dan had checked in the big blind, as had the under-the-gun player, and Niklas Deitmar bet 1,200 in the cutoff. Dan check-raised to 3,600, which only Deitmar called.

Dan continued for 4,000 on the 10 turn, and Deitmar called again.

"Ocho, which means eight in Spanish," Dan said on the 5 river as he bet 8,000.

Deitmar went deep into the tank, while Dan continued to talk to him.

"If you fold, I will show; either way you get to see it." He continued, "What if I just actually have the best hand? Lay down your arms, and you will smile when you do."

Ultimately, Deitmar did fold, and it proved to be the right decision, as Dan tabled his 77 for a flopped set.
