Galatola Chips Up Without Showdown

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Patrick Braga four-bet preflop to 5,500, and Robert Mitchell eventually folded to get shown the KK.

One hand later, Braga raised to 600 and Benjamin Duronio three-bet to 1,600 for Michele Galatola to call; Braga also called.

The 966 flop was checked to Duronio, who bet 1,500. Only Galatola called, and Duronio then checked the 7 on the turn. Galatola made it 3,400 to go and won the pot right there.

Knieps Gets Value with Aces

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

This hand was picked up with over 8,000 already in the middle on a board that read J394. Michael Knieps checked out of the big blind, and Krishnan Vishwanathan checked back from early position.

This brought the 4 river. Knieps came out with a bet of 5,000. Vishwanathan gave it a brief consideration before he put in the call.

Knieps showed AA, which was enough as Vishwanathan threw his hand in the muck to award the pot to Knieps.

Andrii Hrilberh opened to 600 from the hijack and Paul Trianosky three-bet to 2,500 on the button. Hrilberh called, and the players saw a J102 flop.

Action was quickly checked by both to see the A turn and Hrilberh bet 3,400. Trianosky paid to see the 9 river. Hrilberh bet 7,000 on the river and Trianosky tank-folded, passing the pot across the table.

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

On a completed board of KK7A10 with 2,000 in the middle, Briant Alvarez bet 1,200. David Flowers raised it up to 4,000 and Alvarez called within a few seconds to get shown the K10 for kings full of tens by Flowers.

Gregory Fires All Three

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Francisco Duart raised to 500 under the gun, and Kenneth Gregory three-bet to 1,700 one seat to his left. The action folded back to Duart, who called.

Duart checked in flow on a 8810 flop, and Gregory continued with a bet of 1,400, which Duart called.

The 6 turn followed the same pattern: Duart checked, Gregory bet 6,000, and Duart called.

When the 2 river completed the board, Duart checked for a third time, but on this occasion check-folded when Gregory loaded up a third bet of 17,000 and put it into the pot.

Lee First to Go on Day 1b

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Shraga Vrubel
Shraga Vrubel

Stephen Lee has the unwanted distinction of being the first player eliminated on Day 1b.

The hand began when Shraga Vrubel limped from the hijack. Stephen Lee raised to 800 on the button. Vrubel reraised to 3,800, and Lee made the call as the pot began to build preflop.

Vrubel threw out 10,000 on the 1067 flop. Lee popped it to 25,000 in response. Vrubel jammed, and Lee quickly called to put himself at risk.

Stephen Lee: 77All in
Shraga Vrubel: AA

Lee outflopped Vrubel and was poised to crack pocket aces, but the ominous 8 turn came to give Vrubel a flush draw and a fighting chance going to the river.

Lee's worst fears were confirmed on the Q river as Vrubel let out a celebratory yell as he pumped his fist in celebration after spiking the flush, sending Lee packing.

Byungeun Shin

Byungeun Shin was sitting under the gun and in a hand with Mitchell Smith in the big blind. The players were already on the river looking at a 54792 board with a pot of around 20,000.

Smith checked, Shin bet 18,000, and Smith went into the tank. He eventually found a call and tabled his 99 for a set of nines. Shin saw he was behind and then turned over his 77 for the smaller set of sevens.

Shin ended the hand with just over half a starting stack.

Hagenlocher Takes From Blais

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

With some 4,500 in the middle to the K103 flop, Patrick Hagenlocher checked and then called a bet worth 1,200 by William Blais. They then opted to check the A on the turn before Hagenlocher also checked the J on the river. Blais made it 6,000 to go, and Hagenlocher called to get shown the 77 for a pair of sevens.

Hagenlocher had that beat with the 1010 for a set of tens to chip up.

Defending Champion Mizrachi Gets Off to a Bad Start

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Michael Mizrachi, having recently taken his seat and still surrounded by camera crews, raised to 600 from the small blind. Daniele Sunzeri defended his big blind, and the flop came down J9K.

Both players checked before the 5 landed on the turn. Mizrachi bet 800, and Sunzeri stuck around with a call.

Mizrachi then slid out the minimum bet of 200 on the 2 river, and Sunzeri quickly called.

Mizrachi tabled 109 for a pair of nines, but it was second best to Sunzeri's K8 for a pair of kings.
