Ananthapadmanabha Takes Down Rohr

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Harish Ananthapadmanabha
Harish Ananthapadmanabha

Robert Rohr was sitting under the gun and had already committed 5,000 to the pot. Harish Ananthapadmanabha was sitting two seats to his left and reraised to 15,000. Action was back on Rohr, and he went into a long tank. With just 17,000 behind he was asked to commit nearly half his stack pre-flop.

Rohr decided to call, and as he did so Ananthapadmanabha asked, "how much do you have behind?" The players saw the 9Q4 flop and Rohr made a swift check. Ananthapadmanabha took no time before flicking in a T-25,000 chip to put Rohr all in.

Rohr went into another two-minute long tank and during that time Ananthapadmanabha was guessing Rohr's hand. "Ace-king? Pocket kings?" A player at the table called the pair out for discussing hands at the table, and they were given a warning from the floor not to continue discussing during live action.

Rohr stacked up his remaining chips into one pile and moved them across the line slowly to make the call. He stood from the table as the cards were turned over.

Robert Rohr: AKAll in
Harish Ananthapadmanabha: AQ

With two overs and the backdoor flush, Rohr was behind Ananthapadmanabha's pair of queens. There was some hope on the 7 turn, but Rohr said, "GG, good game," as the 6 river was placed and he was eliminated from the Main Event. A player joked to the floor who was still stood at the table, "You can give him a penalty now!"

The table continued to discuss the hand after Rohr left the table with Ananthapadmanabha saying, "You can tell he didn't want to call, but the pot was already so big."

Another player looked to Ananthapadmanabha and said "thanks buddy, didn't appreciate having him on my left," as Rohr had clearly put up a good fight throughout the day.

Ren Lin raised to 1,000 from early position, with Taylor von Kriegenbergh calling in the hijack and Timothy Shifflet calling in the cutoff.

Lin placed out a continuation-bet of 1,000 on the 536 flop, and only Shifflet continued with a call.

The 9 landed on the turn, and Lin unloaded a second barrel of 8,000. That was enough to get Shifflet to fold, and Lin added another pot to his stack.

Devereux Hits His Flush

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Gareth Devereux opened to 1,200 from middle position and was called by Johnnie Moreno on the button and Ananth Ganesan in the big blind for a three-way pot.

Action checked to Moreno, who bet 2,500 on the 5105 flop. Ganesan folded, but Devereux called.

Devereux check-called a 5,200 bet from Moreno on the K turn and then both players checked after the 3 completed the board.

Devereux turned over KJ for a rivered flush and Moreno showed he held KQ before sending his cards into the muck.

Full House over Full House for Mathers

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Bradley Mathers in the big blind, Gary Darter in middle position, and Ian Galland in the hijack saw a flop of 210K in a three-bet pot.

All three of them checked and checked again on the Q turn, bringing the 2 river. Mathers then fired 19,000. Darter shook his head before making the call, while Galland got out of the way.

Mathers tabled KK for kings full of deuces, the winning full house. Darter showed QQ for queens full of deuces, the second-best full house.

“I’ve been playing this tournament for 20 years, and I’ve never seen that,” a player at the table said.

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Action was picked up on the turn, with both middle position Pascal Ridet and cutoff Alex Foxen putting chips in the pot.

The river was dealt, completing the A10749 board. Ridet checked, and Foxen fired 6,700 into around 8,000. Ridet thought for some time before calling. Foxen tabled 75 for a pair of sevens, as Ridet took the pot with AJ.
